Got these in a 6. The length is good but the amount of extra vertical space in enormous. I can fully curl my toes. I also have a narrow heel, and at first didn't experience heel lift, but on the third wear, the padding had already packed out and my ankle was moving around significantly even with the boa and my bindings all the way tightened. The footbed for vans is extremely thick, but also extremely soft and packs out quickly and provides zero arch support. These feel like a men's cushy boot that have simply been shrunk and given a stiff outer shell. Still looking for a women's boot that is actually good for advanced smaller women.
I was really excited for these boots. The design and technical details were everything I was looking for in a new boot. Once I had them I realized that the design of the zippered cuff just wasn't going to be fun to deal with in the snow and ice if I was already having a hard time closing it with dry hands. I also should have went with my true size but went a half size smaller since they were out of my size. I don't think they would have packed out enough. My favorite boots ever were Vans. I hope I can find another pair that works for me.
I have a really small foot so I have a hard time finding a good fit. After breaking my ankle, I was struggling to get the perfect fit. These boots are extremely warm and comfortable. Don't have any pressure points and I love that I can make them more flexible or stiffer, depending on the needs of the snow that day. Best boot I have ever purchased.
This is the 2nd pair of Vans Viaje I have owned. Safe to say it will be my go-to boot for life now. I'm thoroughly impressed at the fit and performance. With my first pair, I made the mistake of buying them a half size bigger and didn't heat mold, so when they packed out, they were a bit sloppy in the toes. This pair, I purchased my regular sneaker size and heat molded them. They fit perfectly for my foot (which is neither narrow nor wide, but with a fairly bony and defined ankle and neutral arches). Totally locked in there without pressure points or numbness. They're appropriately stiff and feel as durable as my last ones which boasted over 130 days of riding/touring. Apart from some cosmetic wear, they were still in really great shape. Super responsive and minimal foot fatigue while riding. I've used them in one tour so far. The flexible rear cuff is a sweet addition for a more natural stride while hiking. I wouldn't say these are as stiff as Vans advertises. Probably more like a 6-7 with the stiffening bars in there and brand new. It's nice to have a higher performing, reliable wonen's boot on the market. Though I can't say I was jazzed about the price point considering these will probably only last me about 2-2.5 seasons like the 2022 Viaje's.
