I don't recommend this boot for any kind of serious hiking or field work. I wore them for hiking local trails for one year, and there are now two holes in the synthetic upper on the right boot. The left boot is starting to wear through as well. The durability is quite poor for a hiking boot. The boots are light and comfortable, but they are more appropriate for casual use.
A lightweight but pretty supportive day hiking boot. With an excellent sole for gripping rocky terrain and a braking heel that helps me on descents. Similar in trail performance to my favorite Asolo Drifter GV EVO hiking boots but a bit lighter-duty and somewhat less ankle support. I needed to size up a half-size to get proper clearance for my toes, especially on downhiils. Too early for me to tell much about the durability of this La Sportiva boot---but at an attractive sale price I think this boot shows promise of being an excellent value. Am replacing the laces that came with the La Sportiva with a slighlty thicker lace.
Purchased my first pair of these in October of 2022 after wearing Asolos for about 20 years. Very impressed with the quality and comfort. Also, they required no break in time and were comfortable right out of the box. Lightweight, great grip on the soles and breathe well during hikes. I like them so much that I cloned the pair I already own so that I would have a replacement pair just in case the style is modified in the future. My only negative feedback would be on the colors -- mine are the teal colour, which I like, but the current offerings are awful. I'd like to pick up a pair of the TX shoes, but they are just too ugly in the current colours!
The outsole is stiff and there is no midsole to speak of. Only a thick insole could make up for that kind of unforgiving construction, but this has a very thin insole. There is so much lateral flex in the uppers that I would not trust the boots to support my ankles. I'm returning these.
Since purchasing this boot, I’ve fallen in love with it ( to the extent that one can) . It has performed perfectly. What impresses me the most is that even though its weight would put it more in the day hiker category , it has the support and comfort of a much heavier backpacking boot: It’s comfortable , sturdy and has just the right sole protection and rigidity to meets the demands of both a day hiker and a backpacker. I hope La Sportiva keeps this boot in their product line for many years to come. This is my “go to” boot.
I LOVED the previous version of this shoe, but I eventually wore out the soles and developed holes in the sides. Unfortunately the new season's model is sized incredibly differently. The length is wrong. I compared the two shoes and the new season is shorter by at least a half an inch! I was trying to figure out why I kept having foot pain and finally I compared it to my previous shoe. Very disappointed and I'll have to look elsewhere for hiking boots now!
Super comfortable and solid hiking boot- My wife and I spent a full day trying on different styles and brands from multiple outlets and found the TX Hike Mid GTX was an amazing fit right out of the box. I have a wider foot and the boot gives ample room for thicker socks as well as my custom orthotic insole. My wife loves the sturdy and confident feel of the boot as well as the recycled components. The solid feel and light weight put this boot on our feet.
I'm not a hiking boot expert, but I have worn enough to have an opinion. For the type of hiking I do (midwest, portage trail, etc) these are a really nice boot. Very light, and fully waterproof. The natural toe box is awesome and allows me to wear a thicker sock w/o cramping my toes. The lacing system allows me to laces these snug or loose and everywhere in between. For the money they are hard to be beat.
Done a few long hikes in them. They are light weight for a mid ankle boot. I appreciate the roomy toe box. Grip seems good maybe not amazing. Stiff sole, which it like for rock scrambling, but others might prefer more cushion. Durability has been fine, but I've probably only put about 60 miles on them. I'm a little concerned about how the Mesh and lace eyelets will hold up.
First, I appreciate LS making a boot with technical features that fits and is flexible like a normal hiking boot. Unfortunately, with this specific design, sand gets through the mesh outers and collects in a hard lump along the side of the boot making them very uncomfortable. I have been able to break the lumps up some but they keep rebuilding. So, these boots are done.
