I purchased these boots 3 months ago -the heavier version- for 350$ on this website and left for a hiking journey into Patagonia. Less than 2 weeks into the trip the laces broke on both boots. When I told Arcteryx, they replied to me to buy other laces and that was it. I do not think they care about the quality of their footwear. For me it was a challenge to replace both laces during the hiking trip itself. The design looks cool and the boots themselves were fine, but the quality of the components is really scare and I was disappointed by their customer service as well.
Ok so I started off LOVING these shoes!! Love the look and feel!! Absolutely loved the laces in that they were easy to tighten and they stayed tight. Wore them for a few walks around my neighborhood and loved how they felt until the 4th walk. As they became broken in the top of the shoe where it bends started hitting my big toenail. I was SO sad bc I had already fallen in love with them. But I knew if I wore them on a hike I’d end up losing that nail. So back to REI they went. Hoping they will tweak this shoe and resolve the issue. I’ll be the first to buy next model in hopes of a fix. Such a great looking shoe!!
Be careful with these. As far as I can tell they have a bigger drop from front to back than the low Kopec ( I own both) and they are stiffer and there is a gap between the tongue and the shoe. The laces come undone and lose every 5 min and the cuff around the ankle offers no support. I found these incredibly painful to wear despite liking the low ones very much. I could not wear more than 2 km I had so much pain. I have contacted support with no response.
Hello Angel, thank you for sharing your experience with the Kopec Mid GTX Boot. We're sorry to hear that they didn't meet your expectations, especially in terms of fit and comfort compared to the low version. We’ve seen your message to support and have prioritized it for follow-up. Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention.
Lightweight, durable, and great traction on all hiking terrain. The style of these shoes are awesome. I have the black/void Kopec's with solaris laces. I also like that the boots have an athletic feel to them. Since they are light weight and fit to my foot well they almost feel like a heavier running shoe. I like putting on shoes that feel like I can be agile and ready for any adventure!
When I tried these on in the store I had no intention of buying hiking boots that day, but they were so comfortable I went for it. Now I’ve worn them on a bunch of dog walks at home and hikes in Sedona, AZ. Even more comfortable, flexible yet supportive, light, grippy, no notes. Haven’t tried them in water yet but have it feeling it’s going to be fine.
I used these shoes in different conditions (in the rain and in the snow) and they kept me warm and dry.
I had been looking for waterproof boots for my trip to Europe in the winter time, i had plantar fasciitis and knee problems so i was looking for comfortable shoes. I had tried so many brands from sorel, ugg, Ariat etc, they either not comfortable enough or its hard to put on, i bought this boots just a couple days before my trip, no need to break them and they are comfortable. It kept my feet dry during tsin and snow, it kept my feet warm but if your toes is cold you can put feet warmer to keep your toes warm and toasty. Great product
I've been unable to wear lace up boots for decades due to a badly bruised bone in my ankle, until now! These were very comfortable right out of the box. Plenty of room in the toe box. 17 light miles in two days with no blisters or swelling in my ankle. Great traction on packed snow and ice, and warm in 10F with wool socks.
I ordered these boots after seeing all the great reviews. However, the boots were very clunky and the midsole area is EXTREMELY narrow and uncomfortable. I hadn't seen anything about this in the other reviews. When I returned the boots to my local REI store (where they don't carry these boots in stock), the salespeople agreed they were unusually narrow in the midsole area. Anyway, I wanted to love them, but went with Merrell boots instead with most of the same features and way more comfort.
I love my new orange boots, they are so trendy. I found them super comfortable on my first five mile hike. I am wearing them in the daytime on normal activities too. Having worn them out in persistent rain I can confirm they are fully waterproof. These are not a full boot which makes them easy to get on/off. My laces have not come undone so far but you could tie them in a double bow if necessary. The only downside is I think they will not keep my feet warm in the winter.
