Love these pants very much. I wore them in 12 degrees for many hours and was perfectly warm as I snowshoed.
Solid choice for snow pants. Runs a bit on the large side, but adjustable. I tried them on in store and went with the medium size. I have worn these pants a few times while downhill skiing and snowshoeing this season and don't have any complaints! I have found them to be the right amount of warm for me in the 20s-40s F. I would have loved to have seen a brighter color choice than the blue or black (hot pink, red, bright orange) but the price was too good to pass these up.
Comfortable pair of snow pants designed for on-site customization. I love that there are velcro straps at the waist so I can adjust the fit without having to rely on a belt ot suspenders. There are vent pockets inside the legs, just be aware that they do not have mesh or any fabric so your legs are directly exposed to the conditions. Your legs keep warm in these pants, so having the option to cool down with the vents is helpful. If you're on the petite side like me, these pants will run a little long but it should work out with a pair of ski boots on.
The velcro to adjust the waist makes these fit well. Rise isn't too high. They're a good fit and work well over both base layer/leggings and regular pants--I can pull them on for a walk at lunch or after work when it's really cold or rainy. They're more heavy duty and seem pretty waterproof and wind resistant, though I haven't sat in the snow in them yet. I'm 5'7" and got the short length (slightly shorter than ideal, but I think the regular would have been too long).
Very warm and comfortable snow pants. I use them for snowshoeing.
I love my new snow powder pants. The lining kept me warm in the snow. They fit loosely so I can wear a base layer and stockings. I LOVE the golden- mustard color!!!!!! The quality is excellent. I am very happy with my purchase!
Although these pants are well constructed in most ways, the thigh vent zippers are incredibly cheap and have never stayed closed. It’s disappointing in what is otherwise a solid ski pant. Will end up using safety pins to hold zippers closed.
I did not have an opportunity to test in cold weather so cannot speak to the warmth. The sizing was a solid medium with room for base layers. The elastic at the bottom of the legs is wide enough to accommodate ski boots and still closes snug on snow shoe or x-country ski shoes. They are a little bulky and impede movement for activities with a lot of movement. I like the multiple zippered pockets. The thigh vents open completely with no mesh which seems like it would let in too much cool air, and also the possibility of snow or moisture getting inside when they are open. Looking forward to trying them out in the snow.
I was in urgent need of snow pants when a three-day snow storm hit the Rockies. These REI snow pants were superb. I used tem to go snowmobiling, sledding, and ATVing in the high mountains. Kept me warm and dry from the bitterly cold, wintery weather. A great value and high quality. Very comfortable, too.
Material is good and the initial fit is comfortable, but it's hard to really move your legs alot. Right below your groin the entries to the legs are constrictive to movement at the top of the thigh. You notice it immediately when lifting a leg. More room around the thigh or a 5 panel design would fix it.
