New version makes my feet happy!
This updated version has sizes in wide. So I got a 38.5 instead of the normal 38 and much more comfortable than the older version which I returned because it seemed too stiff, and tight. I switched out the insoles with the low arch super feet and so far I have happy feet! And this updated version is so comfortable that I was tempted to buy the non waterproof version, but the colors are too loud and unpleasant to look at. Like another reviewer said, bring in some neutral colors pleasing to look at without the colors clashing at each other. Like a shoe that has one or two colors instead of five that don't blend or compliment each other! That's enough for me to avoid buying it. Interestingly REI sells this Gortex version in one pleasing color that is not offered on the manufacturer's website which are horrible looking! Thank you REI for selling this pleasing color!
Unstoppable on rough terrain
These shoes really take flight on trail runs with rough terrain (larger rocks, tree roots); it’s what they were born to do. Awesome stability and essential protection from the wet elements, these shoes thrive on rougher trails. That said, they fair fine on flatter, fine gravel trails but turn uncomfortable running or walking on pavement in the city. If you want a shoe that does it all maybe the Prodigio is a better fit with a lot more cushion. If you need specialized focused true trail running shoe, this is a winner. I typically wear a 7 in street shoes, 8 in running shoes so the 39.5 worked great. I have a narrow foot and La Sportiva is perfect for my foot type.
Perfect for low volume feet!
I'm on my 4th pair of La Sportiva Bushidos. Everytime they "upgrade" I cringe in fear they will change the last and depth of the shoe, but so far, they continue to leave the Bushido for the most part as is. The lll is indeed stiffer than the the ll and I heard while in Italy at a La Sportiva store they were fixing that. I have very few options, if your foot is like mine, thin, boney, low volume, not really narrow and you hike, allot, you might find them to be your best answer for 2-3 season hiking too. I wear a Lowa Sport over the winter. Finding shoes in generally is challenging - FYI, it was a sales person at REI with similar feet to mine that first turned me on to the Bushido, so grateful!!!
Nope
I have low-volume feet with a large, arthritic bunion on one foot. Despite ordering this shoe in a WIDE width, it is way too snug in both the mid and forefoot. Returning immediately.
Stiff and narrow
Extremely stiff and uncomfortable. Ordered in wide size and still a narrow footbed. Took back.
Plan to buy more.
Perfect! With troubling feet, I found these shoes give me the proper comfortable fit. This model comes in a wide without being a WIDE shoe. A nice wide toe box. And surprisingly cushy sole. I do use superfeet as insoles. Works well as a hiker and street shoe. Tread is great, wears very well.
Wide Waterproof shoe? Look no further!
I was looking for a waterproof trail running shoe in wide and that is hard to come by. I saw these La Sportiva's in wide and scooped them up. There was plenty of grip and the shoe felt wide enough without having a massive toe box. Even in the Wide my normal size was too snug, so I went up 1/2 size and they fit perfect. I'm looking forward to breaking these in a little bit more as I train during the winter months.
Great trail hikers for wider feet
Kudos to La Sportiva for making serious trail hikers/runners for wider feet vs just comfort shoe brands. Had great luck with their boots so got these for summer hiking. First 5-mile hike in varied terrain, no rubbing, no blisters and great grip. Want to buy more for back-ups when these wear out.
Very narrow
The fit didn't work for me at all even though my feet aren't really special and medium width. They ran very narrow in the toe box but I could tell that a size up would slip in the heel. I already ordered them a size up from my regular size.
Nice show
Nice quality but does not fit true to size like the reviews noted. My toes hit the front and it hurts. Now I have to pay a return fee or drive far to return. Still a very nice shoe.
