Have been happily using La Sportiva Bushido II for hiking, but my feet get tired after 3-4 miles. Needed something with more cushion, especially for a rocky trip out west. I’m in love with these shoes!! Hiked 8-10 mile days over rugged and rocky terrain with zero tiredness or soreness. They are cushioned, but you can still feel the ground/terrain change. Even after day 6 my feet felt brand new. My joints also feel good, so not too squishy. Super comfy and supportive, flexible enough to scramble, and very protective. As a bonus, the REI color way is amazing and I like the little lace trap. Run, do not walk, to buy these shoes!
This shoe is really stiff - no flex in the footbed and zero cushioning. I had quite a bit of foot pain at the end of a 10 mile hike that I do not normally have. I always buy half a size larger in hiking shoes and these still felt short - my toe was hitting the end of the shoe on descents. I only wore them once and the fabric around the ankles on both shoes already had holes in them by the end of the hike. Grip was good, no slipping issues on rocks. Ended up returning due to lack of comfort and lack of quality. I expect my shoes to hold up longer than one hike.
These trail runners felt great right out of the box. They had exactly enough cushion with aggressive lugs to handle desert trails. However, as another reviewer noted, the soles began to split in the center of the heal after just 6 months of wear. For reference, most of my trail shoes last a year. I hated to return these runners because I loved them, but they just didn't hold up as expected.
Wound up returning. Did roughly 50 miles of hiking in UT and AZ, including 2 hikes down into the Grand Canyon. The soles began splitting lengthwise on the outside from the heel forward. I've never had that happen to any shoes before. Other than that they wore well. I was a bit disappointed.
