Superior product and superior service!
I bought my Bontrager Gironas at the Tinley Park store and took my bike to the Oakbrook location to have them mounted. Melissa was simply awesome, answering all of my questions over the phone. I dropped the bike off at about 11 am on a Sunday, expecting it back sometime on Monday. By 4 pm Sunday I got a text and it was ready. Installation was flawless and the tires are a dream! Thanks REI and thanks Melissa, you rock!
Worth a look
Good all around gravel/all road tire but has it short coming. I got these tires stock on my first gravel and have lasted (tracked mileage) about a 1000 miles. Used on various surfaces asphalt pavement and technical trails. Conditions and pressure for given terrain type play a big part on how much you can get away with this tire. But if you set it to one pressure and don’t consider airing up or airing down for your for usage then it struggles at times if pushed hard. But anticipate your pressure(s) for your use case it does quite well. As the tire ages it does seemingly become soft and does make it more prone to flats and harder to plug. I got three puncture with this tire and plugging it and sealing it was not all ways the easiest. For context I used Stan’s sealant and a tire plug and it generally worked but I since switch to orange sealant works a little better with this tire until I could patch the hole. Patching the tire is a chore as the best results came from cleaning and drying the tire before patching. The tire is easy to take on and off the rim but can be a little finicky when re-seating to the rim likes a higher pressure pump but can be done on a normal floor pump with patience and diligence. That said I have bought these again as I still like there performance as my general go to. Hope this helps.
