Best 2p UL backpacking pot….?
Finally. MSR has been edging towards this product for years & I for one am absolutely here for it. All of the needed tweaks are present- 1. It’s the right size for a 2-person UL pot. Not too big (lookin at you big titan), not too small. My criteria was simple: can it cook 2 small ramen packs? Does it readily fit a stove, 8oz (227g) fuel canister? Can I use it without burning my fingers? Done. Done. And done. 2. Stamped volume measurements. Why this was ignored before has always remained a mystery. But they’re there now. 3. Easy nesting: it fits inside (barely) the MSR deep dish bowl. The 900ml version fits inside it. It’s deep enough to fit a mug & still closes (no fuel with mug, obv) 4. Is the spout a design afterthought or does it actually work well? I like a pour-over coffee & this plays nicely with even finicky (kuju) coffee options. If you never use it for that, at least it will still strain noodles very well. While reviewers minor gripes are definitely valid, there are workarounds for most of them. Yes, the lid handle feels really teeny & lame, but it works fine. Maybe I’ll drop a little wood gripper in there à la Darwin. The pot handle coating is thick & adds weight to a UL item. True, but it’s easier than coating it myself & the addl weight is so negligible that the utility outstrips the penalty. Plus it works well enough. No burnt fingers if it let the handles cool for 5-10sec. They’re big enough to hold comfortably & distribute weight well even if pot is loaded w food. Actually “cooking” food sticks to it. It’s an uncoated titanium pot- maybe don’t use it for that. Overall: one of the best titanium pots out there. Feels really durable for titanium & like they didn’t cut corners on anything. Truly a gold standard for this kind of cookware
perfect with the pocket rocket deluxe
It fits my canister and pocket rocket perfectly. Light as air.
Perfect!
Perfect! MSR sure got this right. These kettles can be used for boiling water and cooking food. Nest perfectly within each other for compact storage. I own all the old style kettles, but these are better.
