Poor quality, overpriced, <2 year lifetime
The TAHE brand is overpriced for the poor quality you get. I have purchased over 10 ISUPs in the past 4 years and own a range of boards at various price points. The TAHE, while priced as a premium product, bodes quality far worse than the <$200 nonbranded ISUPs you can get off Amazon. I used my board intermittently, with actual usage spanning less than 2 full summers. I was <1 month past their warranty when I noticed that the adhesive had peeled off. Customer Service was completely unhelpful, so the board will be hitting the landfill.
Poor quality SUP especially at the price
I am writing to explain my experience with this SUP. I bought it in Tampa Fl. I learned how to paddle on quiet waterways and in the ocean with waves and wind. The board was not perfect but I liked it a lot. Some time after the warranty period it started delaminating in a number of places where the top and sides come together. I have included photos. REI would not help my with this problem and referred me to Tahe as they said it was a manufacturing problem. I spoke with REI 3 or 4 times and sent them Photos. I have been a member for more than 40 years and was really disappointed in their response. Tahe sent me instructions on how to fix a puncture and recommended PVC glue. After the first contact, they would not answer my emails. I have friends that have purchased $200 to 300 boards that don't have these problems. Maybe I should have bought one at Costco and Tahe (BIC) should stick to making cheap ballpoint pens and Bic lighters. If this sounds harsh and bitter, I am sorry but I am very disappointed especially in REI. DON'T BUY THIS BOARD
Lots to love but not perfect
TL;DR: This is a great product if you are indecisive and/or want a good all-around and cheap option for paddling. I imagine it would also be great for a beginner at the sport. However, because it is so well rounded, it doesn't exceed particularly in either being a kayak or a SUP, and ends up being just OK as either. But it comes with gear and presents lots of options, and the inflatability and carrying bag means it is exceptionally mobile. Even if there is no boat ramp or a bit of a hike to the water, you can go. If you are looking to have some fun on the water then buy it. If you want a high-performance craft, look elsewhere. I did a lot of research about kayaks and SUPs before buying this because it is a large purchase. Unfortunately for this specific model I couldn't find too much on it, so I hope this review helps someone else. The good: - It gets you on the water. Paddling is fun no matter what you're in. - The price is very competitive especially when on sale. - It comes with all the gear you need, except for a PFD. - It's comfortable, wide, and I appreciate the bungee cords and the pocket behind the kayak chair. - It gets a lot of attention and compliments, and the fact that it's convertible means it is a godsend for the indecisive (like me). - You can check the carrying bag as luggage when going on a trip as opposed to paying surfboard fees! - It is pretty stable even in some chop. - It would be great for trying out the sport or for having some fun with friends/family. The bad: - The tracking, even with the skeg on, is awful. The nose of this craft will swing left and right every stroke you make. - Being inflatable and the tracking being what it is, paddling in windy conditions is difficult. Even with a light breeze, the wind and water will carry you around like a dry leaf. It gets really frustrating if/when you pause to mess with your gear and suddenly you're 100m from where you were last. - The two problems above mean that there are times the SUPyak will be fighting you like crazy. Mind, I don't take it out on rivers or the ocean or anything, just local lakes and reservoirs. But I've still gotten very frustrated at it. - The pump takes long and tires your arms out. With full energy I can get it up to pressure in maybe 15 minutes? I've also tried foot pumps and my car's air compressor but the pump it comes with is fastest so far. A small air pump off Amazon is something I highly recommend also--look for one specifically for SUPs. - The valve that you pump through has two positions: up to seal, down to pump/deflate. I've had it get stuck in the down position multiple times after unscrewing the air pump, causing the SUP to rapidly deflate several PSI as air flows out. You need to jiggle the valve a little to get it to lock and then pump it back up to the correct pressure--could be another 10 minutes. Overall it has taken me anywhere from 30-60 minutes to even get on the water, between pumping up the SUPyak, attaching the skeg, and loading up my gear. And it's not a fun hour when things like the valve sticking happens. The mid: - The paddle it comes with, when kayaking, is WAY too short and therefore inefficient and tiring. Buy another one as soon as you can, 150cm at least. - Setting up the chair and footrest takes some fidgeting until you're used to it, and the chair bottom (the part you sit on) is not secured to the boat, meaning it will shift around over a long period of use. This can cause your back to hurt if you don't fix it. It's also somewhat fiddly trying to get both left and right sides of the chair exactly the same in terms of tension which again can cause you to sit in a slightly twisted position. - The deck honestly hurts my feet a little bit when standing barefoot, I think because of the honeycomb pattern on it. It's there for grip but if you've ever stood on a pool deck with really small tiles you know the feeling. I usually wear barefoot shoes though so it's not that much of an issue.
An awesome paddle board tested in the New York fin
I was surprised on how much fun I have with this product! As a guy at 260 I was looking for a product where I could be very versatile in the water! This paddle board is awesome!!!! With all of the parts included you can easily be out in the water in about 10-15 minutes.

I’ve used this 3 times now and it’s not very good. Doesn’t inflate fully, even though my electric pump says it’s at its max of 15psi. Water pools at your feet. It’s too light so in wavy water it takes forever to paddle. Do yourself a favor and keep shopping around
