Excellent source for easy/moderate hikes with kids

I love this book! It includes clear maps of the trails and how to get to them. Each hike includes an information box that tells you: the total length of each hike, the elevation gain, the average time it takes to complete the hike, the difficulty of each hike, whether there are restrooms available, and if there are any fees. There is also a "scavenger hunt" for each hike that includes pictures and some facts about different wildlife, plants, and sights that you may encounter. The book is organized well and makes it easy to find hikes by either their location, their features (like lakes/rivers, mountains, waterfalls, history, etc), or by season. There is over 20 pages of good information about prepping for a hike. It includes great safety information, discussion of nature journaling, explains how to respect nature, and has many other great suggestions. We have a 2-year old granddaughter that we look forward to taking on some of these hikes. I highly recommend this book - it's not just for kids. As a new retiree, it also works for me to find some fun and interesting hikes that can be done in a short time.
