Perfect for light, tech-savvy adventures!

The Archeon Sling 7 is my second Osprey Bag - This one is perfectly rugged for tech-oriented transport. For a 7L bag, it's deceivingly spacious if your things are ultra-light. I fit my rain jacket with other items comfortably and still had extra space. It can hold a 13" MacBook Air in the middle pocket (it would fit in the back pocket, but I don't like overstretching the velcro around the laptop, so middle it is). I also carried my journal, headphones, and cable; plus, the car keys can be clipped to inside of an easy access pocket. There should be no fear laying this bag down on wet grass or even getting some water drops on it as you go, but it doesn't fold totally open so if you want to keep your items dry as you take them out, I recommend bringing some alternative waterproof surface (ie rain jacket or mat/towel). The handle reflects how secure items feel in the bag, and the sling is easily adjustable, though it's almost a little big for me, I'm 5'5". Overall, I love this bag and can see myself using it when the projects require minimal devices or as ultra-light carry-on.

Comfortable, Protective Sling Bag - Do U Need It?

The best use of this sling bag should be as an adjunct to a larger backpack when traveling for business or pleasure. It’s a low profile, comfortable carry option when you don’t need a your entire backpack. In the short time I’ve had it I used it on a lunch outing, and also (uniquely?) during my weekly stair running workout (very comfortable!). Pro’s - Outstanding workmanship, materials, ruggedness, low profile, multiple carry options, multiple storage compartments for its small size. Con’s - Longer than it needs to be to fit my 12.9 inch IPad, so it takes up extra space inside my backpack. Small attachment loops make it frustrating to connect & disconnect the sling strap. Hard to rig it up outside my non-Archeon backpacks. BTW - External attachment to your backpack is an interesting modularity idea but would you really want your most valuable items outside your backpack?

It's in the Bag

The Osprey Archeon Sling is unique and sleek. I used it for commuting and carrying my laptop, keys, notebook and charging devices. There are handy zipper pockets on the inside to keep things organized and divider to protect your laptop/tablet, also a small zippered pocket on the outside for a snack. The sling design is easy to use and the strap has a quick release to adjust the length. You can also adjust what side the strap connects to at the bottom, so you can sling it over your left or right. Overall, I thought this was a super sleek commuter bag, not a lot of room for extras but if you travel light this is a great option.

A decent shoulder bag

I really like the material and sturdyness of this pack. It can get wet or muddy and be cleaned off easily. Its a good size for carrying a few essentials on a bike ride. I dont however appreciate the way the pockets inside are layed out, and dont understand the purpose of the back one. I wish that the strap would tighten just a bit more.

excellent small tech bag

This is a great sling bag for anyone who needs to carry small electronics securely. The bag has nice structure and padding. It has a main compartment as well as a sleeve-type compartment that can fit a full sized ipad. It also has two smaller pockets for smaller electronics such as headphones or chargers. The quality is excellent as you would expect from an Osprey product. It is made from a weather resistant type fabric that appears very durable. The sling makes it effortless and comfortable to carry without worrying about it slipping off. I can see many uses for this bag from commuting to travel to everyday use. Highly recommend.

Grab and Go

My wife and I have used this product for travel during a vacation in Greece and have used it for local State Fair and short excursions. We found it to be a very well made and sturdy bag with convenient access to a main compartment that has a small zippered pouch, a velcro sealed location for a small tablet, and a elasticized pouch for glasses, keys or other small items. The outside also has one small zippered pouch for quick access items. The Bag itself can be configured in a variety of positions as a sling, or back pack with attachment points in each corner as well as a through section for a waist attachment. Overall this is a well constructed bag with each access points. I just found it to be limited in usage as it is a slim profile that will not expand for bulkier items.

Very specialized sling

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. While I'm not usually one for form over function, I love how it looks - it's sleek and understated and I love the idea of carrying it around town while traveling. That said, it seems like a pretty specialized sling. It's part of an overall system with Archeon backpacks, and if you were using it to attach your tech to one of those packs for travel, I could see how that could be awesome - it's well padded and organized and streamlined. It would be great for carrying your slimmed-down tech stuff around a conference, for example. But it's far too thin to be useful for every day work commuting - once I put my laptop (which is on the small size and barely fit) and notebook in it, my glasses barely fit, let alone anything else. We tried using it to run around town and it was too tech-specialized to be useful for the normal weekend run-around stuff (wallets, sunglasses, etc). The strap is also on the large size for me (I'm 5'5"). This is probably perfect for someone using it for their tech as part of the overall backpack system, but it's too specialized for my everyday use.

Great every day commuter bag

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. As the name states, this is a 7 L everyday bag. Osprey makes great packs and bags and this bag is no exception. It is made with a very durable coated polyester and sealing zippers that stand up well to travel and weather. I used this bag for everyday commuting in the city and found it very comfortable to wear while walking in the city. The size is good for carrying smaller electronics. No problem holding my journal and 11" ipad with plenty of room to store small items in the stash pockets. You can see in the pictures that the iPad fits easily in the back pocket and my journal in front. Also there is room under the back pocket to store the charger without adding bulk to the bag. The additional pictures also show I could also stow my journal in the back pocket and still carry a 13" ipad or my 13" laptop and still zip the bag up with ease. The sling is very comfortable and adjustable to the left or right side. The strap adjusts easily with one hand and there are no loose strap ends. There are also additional loops that allow you to attach the bag to the other Archeon bags and would allow you to wear the bag as a side-shoulder bag. However you would have to use a separate strap as the sling shoulder pad is not movable to the middle of the strap. Lastly, the bag has a sturdy handle and the sling strap can be stowed between the pack and back panel which makes for a clean look. Osprey makes a similar larger bag for bigger laptops as well. Overall, this bag is a great fit for work without being too bulky.

Sling Pack

The sling pack is well made with the body of it having sturdy padding for the protection of what is inside it. Plenty of inside pockets to keep you organized. Seems to be durable. Best for the use of carrying tech products. There are no instructions on how to adjust the straps and it wasn't easy to do this. I wasn't able to adjust the padded part of the strap so that it was comfortable for me. It would have been better if the padded part of the strap was more adjustable making it, so it was more comfortable to wear.

Nice piece of gear

Well built, solid construction, adjustable straps, slender profile, fits well. I was looking for a close to the body, consider what you need, easy to use bag for tablet / small laptop, battery, notebook and small pencil bag. This fit the bill better than expected.
