Best Birks
I have 2 pair of Birkenstocks with the “rugged” sole. They are a bit stiffer starting out but they last so much longer and I’ve never slipped once unlike when wearing my other Birks with the standard sole. Great shoes.
Run big.
My normal size for Birkenstocks, but these are big and wide.
“Rugged” sole improvement on Birkenstocks
A beautiful robin’s egg blue, not teal as it appears here. I love the “rugged” sole added to my favorite Arizona Birkenstocks, much better as an outdoor walking shoe. Doesn’t slip from foot, feels effortless walking and driving as if barefoot w a sole.
Great nature trekking summer sandal!
This is the outdoor, nature trekking summer walking sandal I’ve been looking for. This traditional Arizona Birkenstock style sandal has been upgraded with a ‘rugged’ sole. Allowing for more traction on different walking surfaces. Please be aware that this style runs bigger. I chose to go down a size. (I’m a size US W10, EU 41 & I downsized to an EU40 for this shoe)
Perfect Upgrade
This are the most comfortable sandals I’ve owned, Birkenstock or otherwise. I’ve been wearing Briks for 25 years and the rugged sole provides all the upgrades the standard sole was missing. It doesn’t slip on tile, is supportive on cobblestones, and helps prevent cinders and debris from kicking up into the sandal. Plus, they look great! I especially like the antique silver buckle with habana leather. I really hope Birkenstock adds the crosstown sole to some of the other classics like Gizeh and Mayari.
Sturdy
This is a great pair of Birkenstocks. I love that it has the sturdy rubber sole. Keep in mind it tends to rub wide and will likely need some time to break in, other than that, great purchase

I haven't owned Birkenstocks for years and am now at the age where comfort is the ultimate motivations for ordering new shoes. I did order the same size that I had years ago but should have gone to a store where I could actually try them on. I am still breaking them in (the strap leather is stiff) but will give them another month before giving them 5 stars! I have hope that they will be as comfortable as my original pair.
Great hiking sandal
Great addition to any Birkenstock collection. The shoe tread is trail ready, grip sturdy and ready for any walking adventure!

I really like these new Birks! They are very stable, less flip-flop but with a bit more flexibility than the 'regular' duel buckle. Wore them all day right out of the box!
Very comfortable
These Birkies are very comfortable and great for walking longer distances in than all of my others. They are a little bit wide but I still recommend them.
