These are the best low hiking shoes I have ever had. I've worn them for 5 outings now. So far, they are pretty great. The soles are very solid, like what you might find on a good over-the-ankle boot, and so they are fine on steep or rocky trails. Though the soles are solid, the shape of the soles permits you to move pretty fast. They are reasonably light. Not waterproof but fine in the rain. Wore them in the Southwest a couple of days ago, and they breathed well enough in the heat. That was one concern I had. At first one of the heels gave me a hot spot but that has gone away completely. We hike or walk as much as 20 miles in a day, and I hope to use these for both travel and hiking (while traveling). The yellow color is very nice but for international travel I wanted something more understated so bought the gray. The shoes are a bit more sturdy than the photos indicate.
These are the best shoes and trail runners I’ve ever used. I can’t speak on their trail running performance however, as I’ve only ever hiked in them. Over 2,000 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail that is. I was the only one that I ever saw wearing these, and felt bad for others when they struggled with the variety of injuries, issues, and pains that came from less supportive and less durable footwear like Altra Lone Peaks or adjacent trail runners. The technical aspects like the carbon plate, and durability like tread and midsole completely outmatched anything I’ve ever tried or saw out on the trail. I struggle with over-pronation, and pair these with a Superfeet green. After the small break-in window, these are incredibly comfortable. I also wear Injinji toe sock liners with lightweight Darn Toughs, and never had a blister on trail. The breathability is pretty good too, as long as you aren’t crossing 100 rivers a day like you are in the Sierra. In the NorCal heat though, my feet felt fine while others were scorching. Every pair lasted 600-800 miles, and I touched the terminus at Canada on my 4th pair while others went through 6-7 pairs. The fit is great even with having wide feet.
Like the comfort. Don't like the look. Looks ugly. Don't think they will last. Too light.
I bought at least 10 pairs of Oboz. These are the best so far. Comfortable and kina like a rocking chair when you walk. Expensive but worth it. You get what you pay for!
Perfect fit and support. Flexible, light weight, great for walking or hiking.
