Fine quality footwear
Lot of good about these. The materials stand up to wind and rain, city use and use in wooded areas. Comfortable for walking, driving, some light running and climbing. The ankle support can be adjusted with an option to lace higher. The shoes have a good earth tone and a solid physical presentation as well as an element of durability. Would rely on these across conditions. Photos attached for reference.
Great versatile boot for different occasions
These boots are great for lots of different occasions. I wore these boots to work, working around outside, and also on walks around local trails. They are very comfortable and have great arch support. The ankle support is flexible while providing the needed stability. I love the fact that these boots are waterproof and they keep your feet warm. The boots tread is not too thick and keeps it comfortable to wear in a variety of places. Highly recommended!
Waterproof Boot!
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I took these out for some a couple of day-hikes on two weekends in September in Missouri. Overall, I liked the boot's great look, firm sole, and reliable grip. However, I was most impressed by the waterproofing. These boots were surprisingly impenetrable. First, I was happy with the style of the boots. I would have no problem wearing these to the office if I had a quick hike planned after work. They look much more like a casual shoe than other hiking boots on the market, which have a more extreme and rugged-looking design. Like most hiking boots, the sole was firm and did not disappoint as I hiked up some rocky inclines and traversed some fallen trees. The grip was solid and comparable to other hiking boots I've used in the past. The most stunning feature was the boot's waterproofing. I crossed a creek and had water over the laces without a drop of water on my socks. The boots seemed to hold up to water better than any pair I've worn before. If I had to look for negatives, I'd say they take a while to break in, which is not uncommon for a boot. The waterproofing also comes at a cost to breathability. The boots tend to run a bit hot due to the lack of airflow compared to a non-waterproof boot. However, if you are looking for waterproof boots, this one is very comparable.
Visually appealing, waterproof, and comfortable
I feel these boots are geared as a hybrid of outdoors and fashion footwear. They are high rise, but minimally supportive of the ankle. The soles are pretty flexible and have a nice tread that give decent traction on non-paved surfaces. Initial quality of boots seem good. Sturdy stitching, and the upper seems well attached to the sole. Fit seems to be pretty standard, boot itself seems to run a little narrow. Compared to other shoes, I feel this boot may run about a 1/2 size larger. Depending on what the climate is like where you live, the waterproofing can be a blessing or a curse. I live in a pretty wet climate area so it’s nice to have the waterproofing, but with all waterproof shoes, you sacrifice breathability/airflow and I did feel that my feet got a little hot while wearing them in dry and warmer weather. If you’re looking for a mostly fashion oriented footwear that can work in a pinch for minor/well maintained trails and has a waterproof upper, then these are great. If you’re needing something for more rugged terrain, I’d probably find a more suitable boot geared towards hiking. I would definitely consider buying footwear from this company in the future.
Great shoes for both on the trail and in town.
These shoes are great! Somewhere between a high to sneaker and a full boot, these shoes are excellent. Fully waterproof, rain never made its way in during storms. They are lighter than you would expect, so they are easy to wear all day, and you won't mind and they don't look like you're about to hit the trails: easily able to be worn in town and fairly fashionable. They are also incredibly comfortable, lots of support. The toe box is a little on the tighter side, I have very wide feet and they are still great for me, so wide feet are welcome here. The only downside in my opinion is they are a bit warm (waterproof membranes will do this) so while thin and light, your feel will still be a bit steamy after a long day. They are quickly becoming an everyday shoe for me.
Great casual boot - holds up to weather
These boots have great style without being in your face weird/flashy. I got them late summer/early fall and have worn them about 2 weeks now. They essentially look like a tennis shoe so go with casual or work outfits. I was really impressed how they felt in the rain, other similar boots I've owned end up either leaking through the sole stitching or feeling overly clammy - these did neither. Excited to see how the waterproofing holds up but I could see wearing these for most of the winter for the general around town use. They're definitely not designed as a hiking boot but sole is grippy and would do fine on a general groomed trail. I can see these getting used at the soccer field on those dewy weekend mornings. Fit was similar to my typical size.
Comfortable & versatile (if you change the insole)
These can be a comfortable shoe, with some adjustments. They were at least a half size too big - I typically wear a 10 in street or other non-running shoes; the Forsake sizing chart said I should be a 10.5 based on my foot length. I questioned that advice and went with a 10 anyway, which fits more like a 10.5-11. Combine the shoe with their stock insole/footbed and my foot felt like it was always sliding forward in the shoe no matter how tight I tied them to the point that it was changing my gait. I swapped out the insole for an off-the-shelf insole that you can buy at REI and it totally changed the shoe. My foot no longer slid forward, I felt like I could walk normally, and even the upper felt more secure and comfortable. After making the insole change I came to really like the shoe. They are comfortable and stylish enough to wear to work for me. I think they will be an excellent winter commuting shoe with the ankle coverage and waterproofing. After bike commuting and wearing to work for about a week, I wore them for a couple of hikes on well travelled trails. They've performed well in all those conditions - they're supportive and stable. I don't think I would try to do a big high-mileage day hike on technical terrain or backpack in them, but for a shoe you can wear around town and then hop on their trail for a few miles they are great. The inability to wear these out of the box due to the terrible insole and poor sizing is why I gave them 3 stars. If you change out the footbed and get the sizing right, I would bump them up to a 4 or 5 - they really could be an every day shoe for most situations.
Great all purpose sneaker boot!
Great all all purpose shoe! Wear around town, where around the back yard, slip on at the base of the resort, wear for a hike. Looks great and not clunky like most outdoor hiking type shoe.
Sturdy Yet Stylish Dayhike Boot
This shoe is a sturdy design for the trails with enough style flair for city use. Quality stitching and durable material round out this boot. High-top lacing gives solid ankle support. Rugged tread sticks well to granite, dirt trail, and pavement. The listed waterproofing held up surprisingly well to puddle water. Felt a bit roomy, especially in the toe box, but still within proper fit for the size. This would help accommodate a thicker hiking sock in cold weather. Fantastic boot for day hikes. Pleasantly surprised with the visual aesthetic - this boots just looks good.
