Comfortable shoe let down by major design flaw

Unfortunately these shoes have a fundamental design flaw. As some other reviewers have mentioned I also had the problem of the sole coming away from the shoe. The weak point seems to be that the seam/join is right on the front of the toe. I wish this was just a one off as the shoes were great to wear and in use. However I went through 3 pairs in 8 months (in each case it was about 10 weeks before the sole of the right shoe came away again). I cant fault the adidas warranty - getting a replacement pair quickly each time but after it happened again to the 3rd pair I just had to get a refund. Adidas- please sort out this design issue, they have the potential to be great shoes, but for now I had to order a pair of the new Crank Brothers instead.

Different but still brilliant

As we all know, five ten has changed alot since switching to Adidas, and that's both a bad thing and a brilliant thing. With these shoes, they have modernised them alot more, they are more water resistant and much stiffer then pairs I've had in the past. The sizing is slightly smaller and they are alot more narrow then five ten used to be. Still, you will be hard pressed if at all to find any MTB shoes that come close to the quality and performance of five ten. And the hellcats are definatley up there in quality and design, I'll update the review at the end of training season with how they hold up.

Poor Durability

Same as MoabPetes review, within first 100km of riding the toe of the right shoe started peeling off. I like the feel and flex and climbing capability of the shoe, but durability wise I am extremely dissapointed as my last 510s lasted years not less than a month.

Great decision

This is my first adidas shoes and I really loved them!! Colour look amazing. I was really afraid because I've never bought an adidas shoes but those are incredible!

Sure poor quality since Adidas started making them

Bought these shoe and used them just 4 or 5 times and the sole is coming off the shoe at the toe, see pic

Only bad thing is how tight they are at the top where you tie the laces initially when they are new. After a couple wears/rides they are fine.

Really nice shoes with a very nice drew design. Had to go down half a size from my normal

Great stiff shoe

Shoe fits well, other 5tens tent to be a bit smaller (easy to fix by adding +0.5 shoe size), but the sizing for this shoe was on par. I use it the shoe in combination with Crankbrothers Mallet E, which works really well. Easy to clip in and out. Frankly it rides like a flat pedal/shoe combo, with the benefits of being clipped in. Shoe quality is impressive. I have other 5-ten shoes (freeriders) as well as RC's, both which have been really good shoes, but this shoe is definitely another step up from the freeriders.

I wanted to love these!

I wanted to love these! And, for that price you should! They are very stiff and not great to walk around in. If you ride flats forget it. Also, the SPD cleat extends past the recess which makes walking annoying and damaging indoors. The kicker is that the rubber sole is seamed at the toe line directly when you would contact rocks when going up a rock feature. I am on my second pair and the bottom is already failing after 3-4 rides. I don’t do anything crazy and never had this issue with my shoes from competitors. This truly is a design flaw from not giving these to bikers to demo before releasing. They should have wrapped the toe box with the rubber and welded the seam so it could not peel back. I sure hope they improve the design in the future and/or offer more clipless options. Tons of enduro and cross country riders use clipless pedals!

Great Build, fit is off

These shoes are built well, the materials are durable, and the silhouette is sleek. The strap across the top of the laces is still a bit confusing. It helps keep your foot there and it's better than the last version but it still feels like it could be better in terms of feel and function. The sizing is a bit off (just like the previous version) and feels 1/2 size too big compared to Freerider Pro (true sizing).

Poor quality

I have owned several pairs of 5.10 clipless shoes over the past 8 years. Each version varies in quality. To date these are the worst. I am on my second pair after sending the first in for warranty after the sole around the toe peeled off. After 2 or 3 rides the same thing is happening with my replacement shoes. I'm very disappointed with 5.10 / Adidas.
