Shorts are great; the transaction disappointing
The shorts are great. I bought this exact item a month ago and like them enough that I bought this second pair. They are comfortable, lightweight but seemingly durable and smartly designed as most Patagonia products. The disappointment was the online transaction. I received the order very timely but it was very clear that these pants had been purchased by someone else, washed and then returned. The fold over tag on the waistband was missing but the white thread stitching was still on the pants, and then the product tag was clearly reattached with a zip tie. Very disappointing. I expect better than this from REI
Fail 2.0
First the good. Nice sturdy material, quick drying. Now the bad. Front pockets are WAY too short in depth. Sure, your standard 6.5" (diagonal) cell phone will fit..barely...but the way the pockets are cut or the shortness, I don't know, it will make the phone sit at an odd angle, causing the corner of the phone to jab you in the hip bone if you're sitting down. The side/leg zipper pocket? Should of just left it alone and kept the previous style's location. This one is awkward to open and easier for a wallet or phone to slip out when taking it in/out of the pocket. The back pockets? Again, no need for the flap, just something else in the way when trying to unzip them, or get caught in the zipper. I ordered 2 pair because they were on sale for $44.50, which is a steal, but I still hate 'em!
