Warm, good storm coat
I bought this for storm wear for hikes in the woods; I selected due to the great price. Worn hiking in rain and northeast woods cold. Rain did not soak through. It's far warmer than I thought it would be from the description; for me I'd wear in poor weather under 35 degrees with a mid-weight shirt. Jacket is bulky and a little noisy, but with the hood up, I didn't hear any the rubbing. Roomy pockets and enough of them; held gloves and mittens, and phone, no problem. I ordered a size up because I wanted room for a heavier shirt and I don't like very fitted clothes, and that worked out fine. All in all, I got a deal on this jacket.

Cheap material, poor fit
material feels cheap, and fit is too baggy in middle and lower sections of the jacket. doesn't look like the pictures. will be returning.

Warm and comfy, great value.

I bought this with the 20% code from the outlet. I like the length, and it came in time for the cold days we've had. I bought an XL and can comfortably wear it over a sweater (I'm 5'9" and about 175 lbs). Great customer service from REI. I'm glad the insulation is made from recycled plastic.

Warm and Useful!

This jacket was exactly what I was looking for! It's comfortable, warm enough for me (I do tend to run hot, though, so it might not work for people who tend to be cold or who live in really cold climates), and I like the fit. It has a ton of useful pockets with either zips or snaps, so I feel like my belongings are secure. I also got it on sale at a great price. The only downside for me is that the zipper can get a little "fiddly" because it has two zippers at the bottom, but it just takes a couple of extra seconds to get it right.

Lemon

This jacket has been nothing but disappointments. Its design lacks an inside pocket. But the real issue is that the zipper quickly broke and the pockets ripped.

Great Coat for Winter

This jacket has gotten me through winter in Boston and New England. I got it to replace a Northface coat I used for 10 year, and this feels just as warm. It has plenty of space to layer under it without feeling tight. Would highly recommend!

wet pockets

First trip in a downpour to discover pockets and their contents got soaking wet.

Thick but not warm

I first wore this outside on a recent 38 degree morning. I felt the cold air on my skin, which means the thick/heavy construction of the jacket does not include good insulating material. I thought the reviews were strange saying they wanted enough room for a sweater underneath, but that is actually necessary to stay warm in it. I prefer a jacket that will keep you warm if all you have is a t-shirt on. This is not that jacket.

Winter wear

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have had the soft shell jacket for 3 years and loved it. Wanted another one so I could retire the other one and use it for working outside. Purchased the reversible vest, long anarak jacket and some ski pants. All fit well looking forward to the cooler season. Great brand

Good coat!

This coat is great but the zippers are a little treacherous. My hands get scraped when putting them in the pockets for warmth and the front zipper is really stiff and hard to zip up. But it is warm and I love the length and flaps in the seat area.
