Buy this rack but only from REI !!!

I have mixed feelings about this rack. On one hand it works perfectly for all shapes, sizes and configurations of bikes. Bikes with fenders, bikes with unusual frame shapes, and being able load all weights of bikes from heavy e-bikes,to super light road bikes. And lights to make it safe, even if the bikes block your vehicles tail and brake lights. A really great design by Thule. The downside... my first rack was missing installation parts and documentation (Thule factory sealed box)... REI took care of it by ordering me another rack. The second one, was missing a set of pads necessary for safe attachment of the bikes (Thule factory sealed box)... REI took care of it by providing the need parts. Finally, I had issues with the electrical connections for the included tail lights... and REI allowed me to experiment with the previous rack to help diagnose the issue by comparing the two racks with my vehicle... it turns out the wiring for the lights have connectors that needed to be unplugged and plugged to gain a good connection (I was getting a lamp out indicator on my vehicle dashboard). All in all, this rack is a great design (be sure to check that all of the parts are included with the rack) and REI is the ultimate in customer service!

Overpriced and not great!

This will work well on a lot of vehicles, but not mine. I have to remove the bikes, then rotate each side in order to get back my back doors open. Add that to the fact that the taillights and brake lights are cheap incandescent bulbs, and you find that Thule is trying to rob you of all your money. This rack will be returned promptly. Great concept, but poorly executed and so many shortcuts. The lighting should all be LED.

NOTHING better on the market

I purchased the Epos 2 with lights after I bought a new Trek Rail 9.7 mountain bike. It has a huge wheel base, so it was difficult to find a quality rack that would accommodate the bike. The Epos is FLAWLESS! Honestly, it has every feature I would have built into any rack; retractable mount support, available lock that becomes part of the bike rack (made by ABUS), bright lights to alert drivers behind you, ramp, locking hitch that is extremely easy to secure, lightweight, cover for storage, weight capacity, etc, etc ,etc.. I have seen a couple reviews that say it's difficult to attach to your car; NOT TRUE at all! I have had 4 hitch mount bike racks (1 Yakima and 3 Thule) and this is by far the easiest to attach of all of them. I have found nothing to complain about. The only thing I would change if I could would be for it to be able to fold inward toward the car. Everything else is so perfectly designed and crafted I simply can't complain!!!!!!

Excellent design. Easy to load/unload. Very secure

I would have given 5 stars but my rack came with a lighting flaw that is forcing me to make a warranty claim. Aside from the lighting I’m very pleased. The design and execution are terrific. Its top-dollar cost is reflected in its top-of-class quality.

EPOS - 2 Bike with Lights

I am a long-time Thule user. Over the years I have expanded my inventory of Thule accessories and I have enjoyed using them on my many trips and activities. I recently purchase an EPOS bike rack with lights. I must say this has proven to be one of the best Thule products I have used. It is sturdy, secure and easy to use. As an proud Thule user, I highly recommend this bike rack for both casual and serious bike enthusiasts.

Absolutely Fantastic

This is the perfect bike rack. Pricey, yes -- but you get what you pay for. Not saying that as a cliche but as coming from someone who made an expensive mistake buying a rack made by another highly reputable brand. It didn't even last a year and half before one of the arms (that pushes against a wheel to hold the bike onto the rack [hydraulic piston-based]) getting stuck and pieces of metal breaking off, rendering the rack unusable. The Epos 2 ratcheting system is so much easier and no less secure. It's relatively light weight and so very easy to put on and take off from my hitch. I love how it folds up like a suitcase and is a breeze move to where I store it in my garage using its wheels. The telescoping arms with a lockable rotating ratcheting mechanism and steel-reinforced straps are very easy to use on the bike frame to securely hold the bike with confidence. The straps ratcheted to both wheels also work great. I also love the integrated signal lights and lighted license plate holder. I couldn't be happier.

Well made except hitch pin

The hitch pin is the weakest link only going in part way not all the way through. The 2 inch hitch should be a full 2 inch receiver not a one inch and a quarter with spacer. Wheel wells should also be a bit longer.

Buy This Rack

Used our Epos for the first time. Fantastic. Received the rack and organized all the tools needed to put the rack together, which has always been the case with Thule. Not so. Surprised and ecstatic when I opened the box to find it was completely assembled and to top it all off, a completely tool-less installation. Not sure why it took so long to get his rack to the North American market, but we did wait it out and now have, probably the best hitch mounted bike rack ever.

Amazingly easy bike rack to use!

Love the brake lights, turn signals, and license plate mount integrated into the rack. No need to ever take the rack off. Able to leave this rack on the car and take it through an automated car wash without the bikes. Extremely easy to mount and secure the bikes. Once the bakes are off, nothing sticks up to block opening the rear hatch. More space to mount any bike, in any position. I've owned several Thule racks and this is the most versatile and the best one yet!
