REI description has the wrong sizes

Product seems to work but REI's sizing in the description is different from the package. Had to exchange. See Below for the box description. Men's XL fit a size 13 shoe. Otherwise they are easy to get on and off. I tried them on some residual ice from a recent ice storm and the foot that had them on stayed in place while the bare shoe slid around. Not easy to fit over boots.

Finally got some snow and ice but these spikes did not fit over my boots. I got them over my hiking shoes and they were good for a few icy patches. If you are headed out for a long, icy walk, they will keep you upright. Don't bother if you are just walking a few blocks, they are not worth the trouble.

Great NANO Trac spikes are portable & reliable

At first glance, the Kahtoola NANOTrac spikes are lightweight and easy to slip on and off your winter gear. I found them exceptional effective with my leather dress boots. They look good on shoes and hiking boots, too. With multi-point grips, they work well to greatly improve and assist with the extra traction that you need on icy trails and city sidewalks, alike. I highly recommended this product!

Worth adding to your gear list

Finally got a chance to try these out in snowy and icy conditions this morning on a road run. They gripped the road really well even on blacktop with lots of ice and packed snow. I felt stable throughout my run and didn't slip at all. I also used them on a wet and muddy, rocky trail and they performed well under those conditions, too. As an added benefit, the NANOspikes gave me some much needed stability while shoveling my driveway. I wear a size 10 shoe and the medium works well for me. Easy to put on and take off, I'd recommend these to a friend.

Great traction Aids!

I planned to use these for extra traction during winter hikes but my first opportunity to use them came with the seasons first snow. My drive is quite steep with the slope hitting as much as 25% (14 degrees). I often have trouble staying upright while dealing with snow and ice. This time I grabbed my nanospikes to try them out and they were great. They go on easily and provided that extra traction I was looking for on a shallow layer of snow and ice. I used XL’s over a pair of Merrell’s size 12 wide. They fit well and went on quickly. Overall I would recommend the nanospikes for any situation where you need a little extra traction in a small and easy to use package.

Secure in my spikes!

Really excited to try out the nanospikes for walking in icy conditions. The winter forecast in my area is for a good amount of snow, which tends to ice overnight. This is usually an immediate deterrent for morning walks and jogs. I’m feeling confident that the nanospikes will help! I was able to try them out during a Christmas ski weekend, used them on my HOKA’s while walking around the resort. Lots of icy patches and felt very secure! I am using size small which is appropriate for my 8.5 shoe size, but HOKA is a larger shoe that probably would suit sizing up, if you’re on the edge of sizes. A little tricky to put the spikes on, but once on they don’t budge! Be sure to avoid delicate floors indoors, of course. Absolutely loved the feeling of security while wearing these. I’ve taken a fall on ice and it’s not fun!

Excellent Nanospike Option

I used the Kahtoola NANOspikes Traction System on a recent hike in Tennessee. I was able to find a few icy patches to test the spikes. They provided excellent traction with my normal hiking stride. These are an excellent option for people who live in climates and terrain that do not require very aggressive spikes. The trail I hiked had very little elevation change. I was not able to assess how the spikes perform on steep inclines/declines. The spikes also performed well in other situations. They provided good traction on wet, slippery tree roots. They also performed well on the trail in general. The spikes were the perfect length for when I did not encounter ice. They did not trip me up by grabbing and sticking in every little elevation change on the trail or in slush and mud. I did not feel my shoes slipping around in the system at all. They are very snug. I used them with 2 pairs of shoes. One pair of shoes had a 35 mm (Heel), 30 mm (Forefoot) | 5 mm Heel-Toe Offset. The system crowded my toes and was uncomfortable. The other pair of shoes had a 25 mm stack with zero drop and a wider toe box. The system was still snug, but fit very comfortably on the second pair of shoes. If you use a shoe with a lot of stack, consider sizing up if possible. The design of the system makes it easy to put on and take off. The tab in the back is a very useful feature. I appreciate the bag they come in. The bag helps keep the system organized in my backpack. The bag keeps the spikes from harm other gear in my backpack and keeps any dirt or mud still on the spikes from getting in my backpack or on other things.

Great for MN winters!

I live in MN and have been running year round outside for close to 50 years. The ice and snow are always a challenge - until I purchased these. I no longer worry about falling on ice covered sidewalks. Plus, I don’t even know they are on my shoes (unless I encounter some clear pavement and then they are noisy). I pair them with a waterproof trail running shoe and they are perfect for any conditions I encounter. The fit is perfect and they don’t move around on my shoes. I would give them a 10 if it was possible. Thanks for making a great product that keeps people safe!!

sizing important

This is a quality product. I have not had a chance to test them over time, but it is obvious they are made of quality material and appear engineered to last. They also include a nice stuff sack to contain the dirt and moisture when you first remove them. A difficulty with a product like this is the need to not slip around once attached to the shoe or boot. This is accomplished with a tight fit as well as pads that, in a sense, lock to the sole of the shoe. These two factors make them difficult to attach to the shoe: The bindings must be stretched out and over the sides of the sole and hold tight, and the bottom pads must be adjusted into place. But if used on boots or shoes with a tread, the pad does not slide into place, the locking bumps are effective at holding it before it reaches the center of the sole. Buying a larger size may help. My shoes were rated as the upper limit for the size of NANOspikes I had, and very difficult to attach. I recommend checking the larger size for your shoe. The spikes are an advantage on ice, as the carbide will cut into ice. For shoes with no or minimum tread, these are also a great tool for snow or other slippery conditions. I will not use them for snow when my boots still have good tread on them, but for icy conditions they will keep me from sliding.

Secure and easy to use!

These traction spikes fit over the top of your shoes' toes which makes them very secure. But they are still easy to put on and easy to take off. I used them for walking about on the trails near my house which included some bare pavement, some packed ice/snow, and some deep/fresh snow. I felt comfortable and safe in all situations. Like any shoe traction, they are most comfortable on show but if you need to walk short distance on dry pavement as well, these are a good option.
