Great cold weather tight, runs small
I have biked in these tights in temperatures down to the low 20s so far, and they are warm and perform well in the wind. They also handle a little mud and water well, although I haven't tried them in full on rainy conditions yet. The main drawback is that they run small, and have a limited amount of elasticity. On the positive side, I am petite and these pants didn't require any hemming at all, which is unusual for me. Saddle padding is well stitched and affixed, and provides just the right amount of cushion. I don't recommend these tights for rides above 50 degrees, unless there's a chilly wind to contend with.
Wonderful But Small
I think this is a great product; however, please beware of sizing. I always wear a medium in a S-M-L sizing system. These run VERY small. Trust me when I say you should order a size larger than normal. That being said, I do like the pants. I wore them on a very cool fall day, and I loved the fact that they were fleece-lined. I've always biked in regular leggings, and the warmth these provided made the bike ride very comfortable. Additionally, the saddle padding was great. Some padding is just too much and simply feels bulky. This padding was perfect, providing comfort without being excessive. Furthermore, these tights have phone pockets. I probably wouldn't put my phone in while actually biking (especially since these fit so small), but it's a nice feature when getting off the bike. Finally, I love the look of the pants. They make me look skinny :) and they have reflective features to make biking after dark safe. Overall, I like the tights, but I wish I ordered them in a bigger size.
Cozy and comfy!
First off, these tights are COZY! The soft brushed fleecy feel on the inside of the leggings was a winner! It has been a brisk windy fall on the shores of Lake Michigan, and these leggings have been fantastic on my 10 mile commute to and from work! The pockets on the side make for easy access to keys and my fob, rather than having to dig through my pannier while holding my bike. I did size up one size, because I don't like tight waistbands...and I'm glad I did. I prefer a higher waistband when riding, and I felt that sizing up helped...if I had opted for my regular size, I think I would have constantly been tugging on the waist and hiking it up. Lastly, the chamois is perfect! Not overly bulky, but still very comfy!
Nice padding, but highly specialized
These leggings do an excellent job of their primary purpose, which is keeping legs warm (but not hot) while cushioning your bum while cycling. (They would probably do an excellent job on those important tasks while sitting in the bleachers at a kid's soccer game too!) The interior plush is soft and cozy, and the padding extended to protect that awkward place on my inner thighs that always rubs against the seat on long rides. I didnt have any irritation from seams in the pants themselves. There are two thigh pockets that put whatever you need in easy reach while riding. The reflective safety strips are a nice feature too. Thankfully, these leggings do not look like you are walking around in a diaper, but they definitely feel that way. I like to ride to places and do things when I get there, and I felt awkward and self-concious walking around because I could feel the padding. Also the pant waist kept riding down uncomfortably low, especially in front. I think these run small. I'm a 14/16 and the XL was ok, but tighter than I would usually wear.
Uneven winter tights
I was excited to try these tights, but sadly came away disappointed. After unpacking the tights I noted how thick they were, which made me curious as to what kind of insulation was inside. I went a head and tried them on, and could not for the life of me keep these on for much longer than it took to see if they fit properly. The thermal lining seriously irritated my skin, which is sensitive to begin with. I was almost instantly itchy and itching to get out of them. I imagine if you hava a thin baselayer available this would help with the thermal layer irritating your skin, sadly my wardrobe is still in transition from summer to winter and that is all packed away. I was impressed with the sewn in padding for the seat. While i couldnt keep them on long enough to try them on aa bike, i imagine that it would help provide a more comfortable ride.
Cozy, but runs very small
It finally cooled off in my area to be able to try these, but wow it was a workout to even get them on. They run very small, so I highly recommend sizing up. Once on, the fleece was pretty cozy. Kept me warm throughout my ride and was still breathable, which is really important to me. I honestly think they nailed the level of warmth of the material, but the fit of these was just awkward on me. The padding was really comfortable while riding, but felt bulky once off the bike. I might just be super sensitive though to walking around feeling like I have a diaper on though. The pockets comfortably fit a phone and a snack or gel, but I wish they were slightly larger. I do like the look of these - the black is sleek and goes with all of my bright tops. I really wanted to love these, and I do think the winter weight is cozy, but the sizing is way off and the bulk of the padding was disappointing.
Returning
The iZUMi Quest leggings were very underwhelming, given the price tag. The fit is completely off, like other reviewers mention. The high rise felt more like a low rise, causing me to feel uncomfortable cycling in them. The lining was a very soft, fleece material, which was nice and warm. Pockets and the reflective addition are a nice touch, but not enough for me to enjoy these.
Excellent transition season tights
Tights are very nice with fleece on the inside and kept very warm while riding in 55-60 degrees. I liked the dual side pockets that are also lined, chamois is very comfortable. Waist seemed to run a little small and did not feel like a high waist based on my body type.
Good product, runs small
This is a high quality product that I really wanted to love. The fleece lining is warm without being too thick for being super active, which is fantastic. The outer material blocks just enough wind to keep you from freezing on very cold days, but still breathes. The pockets are deep enough to hold gels or bars without worrying about them falling out (I wouldn't put keys or a phone or anything else REALLY important in them, but that's just me). One thing I especially like is the interior stitching around the chamois pad. There are no uncomfortable seams or stitches to be distracting or painful after a long ride, and the chamois itself works well for long days on the bike. The reason I don't love this product is because it runs small and ended up being a little constricting. My measurements fall right in the middle of the range for Medium, but i could barely get them on all the way. Once they were on, I felt a little restricted in my range of motion. I suspect it has something to do with the cold weather fabric having less stretch than similar warm weather tights. I haven't tried the Large so I don't know if a full size up would do the job or be too big.
Not for thicker thighs 😬
Had high hopes for these but I recommend against em if you’ve got thicker than average thighs! They do feel warm but unfortunately they didn’t work for my proportions. Per other reviews I went a size up, from an M to an L. Normally an M in everything and the size Large was such a struggle to pull up! Once fully on they felt really restrictive in my thighs, didn’t reach the top of my inseam in the crotch area so there was poor contact that would likely cause bunching while on my bike, and yet, gapping around the waist. Bummed for sure :(
