Wk400 The shoe that keeps on going!
I bought both the WK400 austern(blue) and steel grey and rotated them daily since 1/1/24. I just crossed over 2500+ miles between the two. So roughly 1250 miles for each pair. I was just starting to have very slight discomfort from excessive wear. I consider that to be amazing. I just rotated in two new pairs of WK400 this morning. All of my walking has been paved road walking with minimal dirt trail. I am extremely pleased with their longevity. I referred 3 people who are now experiencing similar results with rotating between 2 sets of the WK400. I would not hesitate one bit to give Keen WK400 a real look and test. They exceeded all my dreams. Keep stepping Keen Family!!!
About Time! Such a Unique (in a good way) Shoe!
Finally a walking shoe! I've been walking in running shoes for decades and this shoe is so much better! Worth the price. It propels me forward with zero loss of energy. When walking in running shoes it seems like some energy/motion is reduced with each step but these shoes do a great job of rocking and keeping that forward motion going. I've been struggling with some gait issues and these shoes really help to get that full range of motion. Cranked out 5 miles in my first walk in these with a lot less fatigue then typical. I really hope this type of shoe catches on as they'd be perfect for long hikes (Altra please make something comparable!)
Walking is so much fun
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just love this shoes! I daily do 10K steps and the new WK400 rocking motion not only allows me to enjoy my walks but also relief stress on knees that can had been caused by regular walking shoes. Furthermore, the WK400 also improves my walking posture. I used to get the pain under the feet but with WK400 shoes that pain is completely gone. I have been using KeenWK400 shoes for past 2 weeks and it has changed by walking experience. Shoes are very comfortable around the feet. It makes very tight grip around the feet. It is bit tight in the beginning but after 2 weeks to use it has become really easy to put it on and off. Contoured Fit–Follows the contours of your foot for a comfortably snug fit. It has Breathable mesh lining inside which makes your feet not sweat even after wearing for long hours. Keen WK400 shoes comes with Eco Anti-Odor for natural odor control. It has Higher-traction rubber outsole for superior durability. KEEN.CURVE provides a constant curve from toe to heel for nonstop propulsion, an action for pushing forward.
6'4 husband approves
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband was in need of a good pair of walking shoes, as he's tall with bad knees from his days of playing basketball for several years. He wears a size 13 and felt these were perfectly true to size. He focuses much more on comfort when it comes to shoes rather than fashion, but to my surprise, he really likes the style of these. I think the the platform looks a little dorky, but he loves that they make him even taller than he already is. They are definitely high-quality and should hold up well to wear and tear. However, there's definitely an adjustment period of getting used to the curvature. He describes it almost as if you're being thrusted forward in a rocking motion. The first home he wore them out, he took some awkward stumbles (not falls, just had to catch his balance), but insisted they are "kinda fun to wear". They make him feel like he can move faster with better ease, but isn't entirely sure if they're helping to take any pressure off of his knees. Recommending if you're interested in trying a different type of walking sneaker than the usual.
Great walking shoes with a few quirks
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been walking in these shoes exclusively, several miles at a time, for the last few days. And I like them a lot, they certainly met my expectations as a fan of Keen hiking boots. But they do have a couple of funny quirks. First of all, right out of the box these are durable, heavy duty shoes. I got them in size 10.5 which is my normal walking/running shoes size, at first they were a bit hard to put on which made me worry that I picked a size too small, but after only a short walk they loosened up quite a bit, and now they slip on and fit perfectly. These are true to size but do take a couple of miles to get to that point. They're easily the heaviest shoes I own, which is both a good and a bad thing. They feel built to last, but at the same time it is a little off to wear non-boots that weigh as much as they do. There's a bit of a learning curve. Speaking of learning curve, the design of these shoes in general. I absolutely love how it feels to walk in there - they're shaped in a way that creates a rolling sensation right in the middle of the foot. It makes me want to keep walking, and it makes my walks feel faster and more comfortable than I've ever experienced before. These shoes are also super comfortable for my heels, there's so much padding, my heels feel protected but there's more than enough wiggle room for my toes. I can comfortably walk in these for miles and I feel significantly less fatigued afterwards compared to when I use my normal walking sneakers. But now I have to point out a few unfortunate kinks. First of all these shows have a VERY strong "new show" smell that will not go away - it's decreased but I still smell it after a few days which I don't like. I hope it fully disappears but for now, it's a pretty big annoyance. Also, while they're super comfortable to walk in, the shape of these shoes does make it a bit awkward to do anything other than walking - light jogging (like in order to get through a yellow light) and especially walking up and down stairs both feel very awkward, I'm getting more used to them but I just feel slightly off-balance while performing these actions. Similarly, it feels kind of awkward to simply stand in these shoes, since they feel like they're trying to propel me forward! So for things like waiting at red lights or in lines at stores, it's a little odd of a feeling. Lastly I want to talk about the design of these shoes. I like the design a lot, they're very sporty and I'm a fan of how big and chunky they are, but I'm not the biggest fan of the placement of the shoelaces (which are at a slight diagonal as opposed to going down vertically) and I especially don't love the placement of the KEEN logo/the big WK400 on the tongues. The WK400 isn't so bad, I just think they stand out a bit too much. But the big KEEN logo right at the toe of each shoe looks really lousy, it really looks like they stamped the logo in the most obnoxious, most noticeable location imaginable. I don't understand why they couldn't simply put the logo on the sides or the back like any other shoe. All of these little nitpicks, but especially the comfort aspects while standing/jogging/going up stairs, are enough for me to lower the overall score to 4 stars. Again these are fantastic overall, and I think they will last for a very long time, but if Keen can find a way to iron out these few kinks these could really be a special pair of shoes.
ADD A LITTLE BOUNCE TO YOUR STEP!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Even though these shoes may look a little weird but I have to admit they are super comfortable and actually make walking a bit more enjoyable. The curved soles add a little bounce to your step reducing the impact on your feet and knees. The shoes have a breathable mesh lining to keep your feet comfortable and dry.
Bring on the WK Line
This shoe is a nice departure from the leather-clad boots we tend to see from KEEN. While those are great and serve their purpose well, this offers a more sneaker-like fit and styling. They are comfortable and fit well straight out of the box and immediately made me want to walk. The upper is constructed well and is breathable, midsole cushioning feels great, and the sole is lugged enough for pavement or trails. While it may take a few wears for people unfamiliar to get used to the curve technology, anyone that is a regular user of running/trail shoes will find it easy to adopt. Can't wait to see future WK models and where KEEN goes with this new line.
Truly A Game Changer
I say go for it! I was reluctant based on retail price until I watched a foot doctor you tube review on this new keen rocker walking shoe. I've noticed less stress from the hips to the soles of my feet compared to a conventional designed walking/hiking shoe. As stated, you'll find the feet roll to the next step instead of a flopping/pounding to the surface. As they say; 'Truly A Game Changer'. With knee surgery approaching for me, these will aid in post-op rehab. I'll wait a couple weeks before I order another color... George (New Lenox, IL)
Uppers Are Too Flimsy
I love how these rock gently when you walk, the cushioning is good and the soles are hardly worn after 9 months. Unfortunately, the upper material is very thin and has actually developed 2 holes in the material (near the front of one foot). The holes are not due to abrasions or cuts -- just from normal wear. The holes started after about 2 months and just keep getting worse (see attached photo). The uppers for every pair of Keen shoes I've owned in the past were far more robust than these. Definitely not worth the price.
Loved yet disappointed
The styling is great and very comfortable to walk in. It is actually fun to walk in. The problem is that while standing, due to the curved sole, there is a lot of pressure on a small section of the foot that makes contact with the floor. All my weight used to be distributed over my whole foot. But due to the these shoes curved sole, all my weight is just on 2 inches of the foot. I've also noticed that there is a balance issue and also slippery on wet surfaces since less tread contacts the floor surface. I ended up returning the shoes for a refund. I'm not a heavy person, slender build. So my weight shouldn't be a factor.
