I wore these for a couple of hours this morning to test them again. They are somewhat cumbersome but seem to be loosening up. I purchased the XL because I my fingers reached the tips of the Large and I thought crowding my fingers would make them less warm. I also wanted room for hand warmers. The outer fabric seems weatherproof, and the inside is a cozy flannel-feeling fabric. The cuffs are a bit snug, so putting them on and taking them off is not a quick process. They aren't as flexible as I'd like.
These mittens are very warm and just right for every day use. These aren't thin and they aren't thick ski mitts. These are warmer than thicker mittens I own without being too bulky plus these can be packed away without taking up a bunch of space. I read these run small so I sized up and they fit perfect, however I didn't actually try my normal size to compare. I wear size medium in every pair of OR gloves I own (lots of them) but I wear a large with these and I love them.
Fits a bit tight, I'm a xl. Warmth is great, -10c yesterday. Found a tear on outer shell, didn't feel it snag on anything, won't last.
I needed a lightweight flexible glove that I could use running in the late fall winter and early spring months. I also needed something for nordic skiing. This was it. It's lightweight and has just enough insulation to keep my hands warm while remaining active, but not too much that my hands sweat. I would definately buy these again.
I’ve biked all winter in zero degree Iowa and learned that mittens are far superior to gloves for keeping your fingers warm. I used double mittens in Iowa but for Northern California these OR mittens are perfectly warm but not bulky; easy on / easy off. And they are light enough to fit in your pockets.
These mittens fit really well and are super comfortable. They keep my hands warm and dry even when the weather's been so wet and gunky recently! I like that they're more flexible and lightweight than more intense waterproof gloves and mittens while still having some measure of water-resistance.
I tried these out in the White Mountains on a one night trip. They were perfect for the low 40's that we had up here this weekend. Aside from the fact that I ordered a pair that was one size too small for me, they are a good fit, perfect for early spring or late fall and very comfortable.
Good mittens. They are pretty warm. A little too warm for above freezing and not something id use for snowboarding or winter mountaineering but still a great glove.
Based on the comments I sized up and order a large. Just arrived and they are so large. I have to return and meanwhile no warm mittens. I will try the medium
I love these for running and skate skiing. I usually wear a small but sized up to a medium in these.
