I was skeptical when the Rho LT Crew Neck arrived. I loved the color combo with a dark turquoise/green main and the pop of a bright turquoise blue on the pocket, but the feel of the outside material reminded me of past products I wasn’t a fan of. However, after trying it on and taking it for a spin, I cannot stop singing praises. I’m 6’3” and I bounce between a medium and a large, more for length (I have a long torso) rather than width. I ordered a medium and the fit was perfect - the sleeves weren't short even when raising my hand and the length was plenty long. When the shirt is on, the softness of the inside envelopes you and there are no noticeable tags or ribs that bother you. I appreciate the toned down main color as it makes it something I throw into my everyday rotation as well. The pocket fits an iPhone SE, but I’m not sure on the long term comfort of having an item of that weight in it (I didn’t keep it in the pocket for long). I wore the crew neck on a multi-day trip, hiking 6-10 miles with a day pack in occasionally rainy 30-40 degree weather. I started with a thin puffy, but less than a mile in on the first day, I took the puffy off and never put it back on. The crew neck kept me so warm all weekend (with no noticeable stench)! It was extremely comfortable to hike in. I cannot recommend it enough. I look forward to trying it out during ski season.
Pros: retains heat but breathes, wind resistant, moisture wicking, soft/comfy Cons: boxy fit, felt big for a medium in the shoulders, chest and waist (*dims below*) Snowsports: Worked great as a sole base layer for early season snowboarding without needing any additional layers under my mid-weight Marmot Refuge Jacket. I got a little sweaty midday but it seemed to allow moisture to evaporate well without making me cold. I thought the pocket on the chest was a little weird but it turned out to be a good place to keep my RFID lift pass. This will be a great base layer later in the season. Cycling: I wore it as a top mountain biking in cool weather (50-60F/sunny) and it worked surprisingly well. I was a little warm pedaling uphill in the sun but the performance was on point for keeping me comfortable in the wind and shade. I could not feel the wind penetrating the material, which was great because I was sweaty and a standard breathable top would’ve been chilly. Sweat seemed to evaporate well and I never felt like the material was holding moisture. After laying a decent sweat on it I stashed it in my bike bag for a few days and it didn’t smell at all; so maybe the odor control actually works. I think this will be my go-to top for riding trails at 40-55F. Feel: Out of the box it was slightly rigid with a synthetic/plastic feel but after a few washes the weird exterior texture subsided and the inside got a nice, soft, fleece like feel. Fit: I’m usually a solid medium in most tops but this feels a little big. The length was enough to tuck into my thermal leggings without coming up throughout the day, arm length is good, but the chest, shoulders, arms, and waist felt a little big. I recommend going one size down if you want more of a form fit. **My size: 31”Waist/50”Shoulders/41”Chest** Giving it 4-stars because I think the fit could be more athletic and less boxy; but maybe that’s what helps it retain heat and wick moisture. Overall it seems great, particularly as loose fitting, warm base layer for snowsports; just don’t expect it to breathe/wick moisture like a lighter top.
Recently, I started this classic sweater. The upper body is very comfortable and light, but the velvet inside has very good warmth retention and moisture absorption and perspiration, which is especially suitable for wearing. The logo is reflective, the clothes are simple as a whole, the tailoring is also very good, and the cuffs are tightened. It is indeed a very good sweater. Praise! Prisoner 2 12+
This is a first update on the product. It has been really warm here, so limited use. Having said that, the few cool/cold days that I have used it made an impression. The top is good BY ITSELF all the way down to 40F (Rockies dry weather, probably different in PNW), maybe even lower depending on the level of effort. The fabric is great: really thin for the amount of heat it retains, wicks away sweat, and is odorless (I used it contiguously for 4 days in hikes, scrambles of different effort) In addition, it does not stick to the skin, it does not chaffe, it just felt comfortable when I wore it. As soon as there is enough snow to skin up in my usual places I will be able to tell more about this top
Top quality base layer top as one would expect from Arc'teryx. Overall the fit is perfect for my body type (tall and slim). The fit is more of a modern slimmer fit which is what I prefer. Very soft and comfortable, so much so that I wanted to wear it like a favorite sweatshirt, all the time! The green color combination looks even better in person. Excellent moisture wicking and extremely fast drying. Warm and comfortable are the key words to describe this top. I used the base layer for fall hiking here in Colorado and didn't need an additional layer other than a light shell. Chest pocket is large enough to keep your ID and some money comfortably. A cell phone fits in the pocket as well if you were just wearing the top.
Rho LT is a kind of tights, which can always keep a good shape and help to expel sweat from the body. Its design takes into account the comfort and freedom of movement, such as flat-footed seams, close-fitting three-dimensional tailoring and high-necked semi-zipper design, which is not only warm but also convenient for ventilation and heat dissipation.
I am a little biased because I have another Arc'teryx product that I love. This is a close fitting shirt. It has a brushed fleece interior that is very soft. I run warm, and I wore it on a run in about 50 degree weather and it was too warm. This is a great shirt for a cold weather hike also. I didn't feel cold and it breaths well. The only thing I would say is to try it on first. It fit me well, but because it is form fitting, you can see how tight you prefer. Other than this, the size fit well. I am 5'11" and the length in the arms and torso was long enough. There is a pocket in the upper left breast, but because the shirt was form fitting, I wasn't quite sure how I would use it. Maybe for ID or debit cards.
I like to start by saying how appreciative to be a member of the REI trailblazers program. As someone who spends a lot of their time outdoors it's always nice to have the opportunity to review gear. That being said I was given this shirt for free in exchange for my honest opinion on the product. Out of the box I was impressed by the fit and finish. Another quality product from Arcteryx. As usual the stitching was impeccable and the polyester/elastane material is top shelf. Very soft interior finish feels great against the skin without any seams that rub or chafe. As a carpenter I'm pretty brutal on my work wear and put this shirt through the wringer. I didn't find it to get smelly or retain odor like some other synthetic materials which is always nice. After a handful of washes I've yet to see any pilling on the interior of the shirt. All in all I find this to be a really nice piece of kit but the price may be a little steep. My only gripe about this shirt is the chest pocket. As a baselayer I can't see any reason why I would ever put something in there and sometimes the little zipper would rub my chest when wearing suspenders. To me it's a feature that has little use and if removed would make for a better shirt at a better price point. In closing I would say that this is a very nice shirt, but for some there may be a better option. If I had paid full price I wouldn't feel like I had buyers remorse but I also wouldn't be left feeling like I bought my dream baselayer.
This is my favorite base layer I own. I have base layers from other brands but I find myself always going to this one. It’s light but still very warm. I use it as a base layer as well as just a long sleeve out and around. I couldnt be happier with the quality of this piece. Ive used it constantly and had no issues with durability.
I really like it for daily commuting and work wear
