Perfect for commutes and adventures
The Burley Tail Wagon works well for me and my 35lb hound mix, I purchased it in order to be able to bike commute on days I’m responsible for my dog’s transport to and from work. We commute 2-4 days a week, about 4 mi each way, half on a paved bike/pedestrian path and half on a moderately-busy suburban road. On the weekends we will go for 20-50 mi on dirt and gravel paths. My dog is naturally anxious, so he can get a little restless for the first 1/2 hr or so before settling, but I know he likes it because when I start getting ready he will go outside and sit next to the bike, waiting for his trailer. I have a ton of animal behavior and dog training experience, and like another person mentioned, getting the dog used to it is crucial. My dog is also 12 years old and has never been in anything like this before, so I really took my time with conditioning. Needing to be patient with this process was a downside, but worth it. First, after I brought home and assembled the trailer, I spent the 1st month just having him jump in and out of it at home. He would get random treats at times he decided himself to lie in there. Then I took him for increasingly longer rides, with lots of treats for positive reinforcement. Now I continue to keep the trailer assembled and out in the main living space, and he still often likes to jump in and take naps. With getting a trailer in general, I was nervous about the turn radius and some curbs or bumps, but it actually stays very stable and handles quite nimbly. I spent extra for this trailer compared to others because it seemed to have the highest rating for stability. Additionally, to increase the comfort for my spoiled dog (especially since we do a lot of gravel), I bought the fatter wheels and a supportive foam bed. For riding at dusk I also got some clip on lights for the rear. I was most surprised by the ease of moving it in and out of my house, car, narrow spaces at work, etc. It rolls easily and is light enough for someone very weak like me to lift it easily. I also like how it folds quickly for storage in tight spaces. The connecting arm can also be removed for even more compact spaces, and the wheels easily pop on and off, though I haven’t needed to do any of this. Also, I leave the bracket on the bike at all times, and am pleased with how hitching/unhitching takes seconds. One thing I would change would be to add more storage, especially a way to clip a bag large enough to hold all my dog’s gear if we go bikepacking. It’s not a major thing because my bike can be loaded up pretty good, but it would be a benefit. Also, at 35 lbs my dog sits inside comfortably, but only just. If he were any larger the Bark Ranger would be more comfortable. An integrated rain cover could be helpful for some, though I completely avoid biking in wet conditions. Also, this would not be a good setup for heat-sensitive dogs in the summer. My dog is very heat-tolerant, but we still avoid biking in direct sunlight when the temp is over 80 deg. To sum up: the Tail Wagon has been a costly, but great addition, allowing me to commute more often. Because of its stability and handling, especially with the fatter wheels, I have the added bonus of being able to take my dog with me on more adventures. This may not be the ideal setup for more anxious dogs, and it can take time to help dogs feel at ease at first, but once you go through the process it’s great. The ease of hitching, and ability to quickly fold it for storage, made this ideal for my situation.

Doesn't close, not safe
This trailer is not safe. It does not close all the way--there are just two loop closures at the bottom. My dog could get her entire head out between the flaps and could have jumped out. I don't know why it does zip all the way around like other trailers.

Trailer Travelers.

Y'all aren't gonna believe this, but I biked with my dog and boyfriend all the way from San Luis Obispo, California to San Francisco, California. 300 miles of pulling my dog in the tail wagon, trailer pullin living. This thing held up like a champ, we went on dirt roads, hills, roads with potholes, got on a train and bus, and pulled a bunch of other stuff too. My dog is only 11 pounds so we had room for gear as well in the tail wagon. I highly recommend this product although it is a little pricey, it was wonderful how easily it folded up and could be stowed away or carried onto public transportation. It was also nice how easily we could switch it between the two bicycles. Thank you, Burley for this product. If you ever need an influencer or pictures to show off your tail wagon trailer, let me know. I take it on mini really cool adventures. Lol

Great puppy ride

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are very pleased with the quality of the tail wagon fabric & tires. Easy to assemble & connect to bike. Nice roomy space for our 22 lb dog. Love the amount of air circulation via the quality screens. Not a lot of bounce in ride because of quality construction. We also purchase the cushion bed insert which our dog immediately took to, especially after using on floor in house prior to bike ride! I’m now going to purchase accessories.

Wonderful trailer, a tad difficult to pop together after folding down tho

Our Australian Shepherd (6 months, 38 lbs) LOVED his ride in his Tail Wagon. We took a shorter ride to see how he'd do. . . we weren't sure he'd just relax in there but he did. The asphalt trail we were on was not even, lots of bumps and cracks from tree roots and the wagon stayed true. My husband was pulling it and he said he didn't notice anything. It went right along with him. The only issue we had was in popping it together (this was our first trip with it). The fabric is so incredibly tight that it was hard to snap things together. My husband finally adjusted the velcro straps to their absolute limits and then was able to make things work. That's a bit too much frankly. . . it shouldn't be that tight and the straps should be longer. It's a really well made wagon. We do like it, but that was a tad frustrating. OH and we ride e-bikes. No issue with attaching the trailer. It worked great.

Fun times ahead

Setup of the Wagon was fairly easy except the top clips were a little difficult to snap into place. To do so, I had to leave the side Velcro unattached to the bars. I am not able to attach the Velcro to the bars, and I’m hoping this does not put a strain on the sides of the wagon. The wagon rides great on pavement, as well as lightly graveled roads, and my dog seems to be doing well. It is taking her a little while to get used to it. I look forward to having a lot of fun taking my canine copilot with me.

Burley tail wagon is a lifesaver

I have a 16 year old shitzu Maltese mix. He has severe separation anxiety whenever I leave him alone. Up until the purchase of the tail wagon I was unable to get out riding my bike, it has allowed me to have some freedom. Thank you, love it don’t even notice it attached to my bike

Great to haul our 2 Boston Terriers

We have had our Tail Wagon for a short period. It seems to be well constructed. Our dogs love going in it for short rides. We will be going on a long trip soon so that will be the true test. I only wish that it came with rain flaps to keep tge dogs dry on those we days.

Ebike cruising 🤙🏾

Perfect for my older dogs. Two 14lbs Chiweenies fit no problem. They get to do some pedal zooming and come cruising everywhere now. I have an electric bike which makes it even easier. Love it!
