Disclaimer: did not buy this from REI, but my local boat store. The PFD itself is bomber. Feels like a big step up in construction quality from my non-rescue Kokatat Hustle. The panels moving independently from one another is very comfortable. The first time I wore it was on a four hour class IV rafting trip and genuinely forgot it was there. As a 210lb paddler, I should not be wearing a PFD with the same flotation as a 150lb paddler. I took a swim while surfing a rapid while wearing the Indus and it was noticeable as to how quickly I surfaced and how high I floated. With my Hustle my mouth was always much closer to the water than I would like. No such issue with the Indus. We need more medium to high float non-Search and Rescue orientated PFDs, and as always Astral is leading the charge. If they were to release a non-rescue version of this (as per the Bomwan/Blue Jacket to the Green Jacket), I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Thank you Astral!
