I bought these for hiking/backpacking. They are extremely lightweight and very comfortable. I took them on an Alaskan Fishing trip and discovered these Basin pants were perfect for this trip. Because they are thin, lightweight and durable, they fit perfectly under waders. Not to be gross but I ended up wearing these a few days in a row because they were so comfortable. I haven't been on the trail in these yet but they have already become my favorite pants. I am ordering more. Thanks MHW.
The waist size seems true to me, and the fit is nice - slim, with good lines for me. However, the inseam is too short on most all Mountain Hardwear pants I've tried, and these were no exception. I don't know why they have so few options for tall people. They also have a pretty dumb belt loop placement, with two right next to each other at the very back, then one on each side at 90°, then one more about 1/2 way the the snap from there. Sounds normal, but with the stretch fabric, after you've bent over or sat down and stood up again a few times, your belt is not on the pants, but up on your skin or shirt. The two on the back should be like 6"-8" apart, instead of 1/2", so the belt is actually kept where a belt belongs. After that, I've nothing bad to say about them, as they are very light weight, with a comfortable stretch and smooth finish that doesn't get dirty that easily. I bought two pair on mark-down as work pants because they don't look too dorky with boots on, they're light, comfy and nice looking. Otherwise, they're too expensive.
The pants are very thin and best used on hot days or for sun coverage. They don't provide much warmth but they feel like you have nothing on which is great for hiking.
I ordered a 36 waist they arrived at 40 inches. Need I say more.
