soft and works

I've had a chance to test his out in the gym, at work, at home, and while driving, and you can now colour me impressed! It does what it claims to do, protects you from the sun, absorbs fluids, dries relatively quickly, and is soft. Glad I was introduced to the Nomadix towel! At work, I enjoy an outdoor lunch experience in the hospital courtyard. With my bald head, I'm always conscious of how exposed my skin is. The same goes for when I drive with my moon roof open. Sometimes, I just want the cool, and probably polluted, southern California air with some sunshine. With this bandana towel, I can forgo reaching for my sun hoody and feel comfortable. Some will tell me I look stupid, but it's all about protection! I was surprised to find this bandana ties well and stays in place, too. I think it's the friction from the microfiber construction, but I really didn't have to worry about it untying while I was active on a run, doing yoga at home, or climbing in the gym. Because it is absorptive, though, you will smell likely smell the sweat or whatever you use it to clean. I haven't really noticed any odors, but I expect there is a certain level of saturation in which you will. As this was a gift to me, I only have the rambler black, which is pretty tame. Browsing through the Nomadix website, you'll find a multitude of colours and designs. Spring flowers, peak-to-peak mustard, tie dye, and leaf me alone would have been much more my style. Check them out; they look wonderful! I hope this bandana towel is as durable as it seems to be. I've only had it for a few days. If all goes well, then I'll likely grab a few more. It's nice and soft on my skin!

Stylish, quick-dry towel but lacks a hanging loop

This cute bandana towel is a multi-purpose, quick-dry towel that can be used efficiently on the trail. As an avid hiker and backpacker, I wanted something small and lightweight. I like the pattern and feel of the fabric and it was bigger than I expected. It soaked up a ton of water when I dunked it in the creek to scrub poison oak oil off my hiking poles. I like that it's larger and holds more water than the thin buff or mini camp towel that I usually use. It was very easy to wring out as well. It could double as a pot holder at camp. The size and weight of this towel would work great for backcountry swimming or drying off after large water crossings, where it's not feasible to carry a large beach towel and a small buff just won't do. I docked one star because there is no loop to hang the towel off my backpack to dry. This is my only major gripe. As you can see in the photo, there is product label made of thicker strap-like material that could've easily been made into a small "loop" for hanging. However, in my opinion the label serves no purpose other than to display the brand image (plus the heavier fabric on the label adds weight). Without a way to hang the towel from my pack, I had to weave it around the buckles above the mesh pocket of my bag in order for it to dry. I was impressed that it dried within a few hours of hiking in mixed shade/sun in 70 degree weather. I imagine at high altitudes with full sun, it would dry fairly quickly. I will be adding this to my backpacking gear list for trips where I plan to swim.

Perfect for long days in the sun

This is a great replacement for my usual cotton bandana I carry when riding MTB in central TX and while doing yard/trail work in the heat. The fabric is far superior to the cotton of my regular bandana staying absorbent even after hours of use. The material is noticeably thicker that a standard bandana but that does not affect it's use. The edges are nicely finished to prevent fraying and provides a clean look. The only complaint I have is size. Being larger than a normal bandana makes it a bit bulkier to stow in my back pocket.

Worth considering

The nomadix bandana towel is a good, multi-use item. I recommend it for backpacking, hiking, water days, and even use around the yard. The bandana is super soft and fits well around my head and neck, and folds down small into my backpack. You do have to tie it tightly to keep it from coming loose. It effectively dried my full body (hair a little less so) after I got out of the water with just one wipe down. No need for a larger towel. It will be great for a day out kayaking or hanging out by the river! It also kept the sweat from dripping in my eyes while I was out working outside and wicked the sweat off my neck while on a walk. It absorbs tons of water and sweat and helps keep me cool despite its dark color. I appreciate having a dark, basic color as a choice, but others may prefer one of the brighter patterns to make it easier to find in your pack or to spot it where you may have left or dropped it. The UPF protection is a bonus. The biggest weakness is a lost opportunity to make the little brand tab a hook to connect to a pack for easier drying on the go, or to build in some other loop. You have to tie it around something which makes it hard to dry the fabric in the knot. I think I am going to triple over and sew the really long tag you see in the photo to make my own loop.

Surprisingly handy

The Nomadix Bandana sized towel proved to be an must-have travel companion on a recent trip hiking and adventuring from SLO to San Diego. It was great at wicking sweat as a bandana around my neck, large enough sit on or spread out mid-hike snacks, and absorbent as a cold water bottle wrap that kept condensation from accumulating in my pack. It’s small sized made it dry out fast and easy to keep close at hand. Even though I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review I will be picking up a another as a spare.

Versatile, durable, best towel/bandana product

The Nomadix Bandana Towel is a versatile, multi-use, durable, great item. It is lightweight but does not skimp on quality. I used this as a towel, bandana, running headband, and even sleep mask. Some of the upsides are how quickly and effectively it soaks up any liquid (especially sweat and spilled kid drinks), durable material yet lightweight as an all cotton bandana, and doesn’t hold on odor after use. It wrings out well (even though I never needed to like I do with standard bandana), tied to my ultra running vest with ease and no slippage, and easy to clean or rinse out. Far superior than standard bandanas and way easier than carrying cotton towels. No real downsides except I would get a larger size to tie around head or wrists. This one just wasn’t big enough. Still worked fine but I would prefer slightly bigger size. Also, the tag is long. Like CVS receipt long. I cut mine off. This is a great product and is great for long days hiking, camping, or just taking to work so you don’t waste paper towels. Highly recommend.

Great But...

It would be 5 stars if not for the heavy annoying vendor logo tab that is folded over the edge, mor than tripling the thickness. When I use my hands always seem to catch on it. Going to cut it off. And the color is only 1 side. Why would you have something black for sun protection? You only see the black if you opened the reviews, the "catatlog" show only the colored side. Where is a White one?

Looks Cute but Slow Drying Time

I have this towel in the bandana size. The towel itself is really cute, I tied it up on my backpack. I used the towel to clean up spilled water on a gym floor and it did a really good job at that. However, the towel takes a long time to dry. I would definitely take this hiking because it gets the job done.

Beautiful bandana towel

The bandana towel is almost too pretty to use. It is definitely of high quality, easy to wash, dries quickly on my clothes line and very absorbent. I used it while I mowed the lawn during our WA heat wave and it was quite handy an easily absorbed all of the sweat on my neck.

Great absorbent bandana

This is great! I love the teal color and modern pattern. I used this on my Mother's Day hike in Estes Park. I wore it around my neck and the material is both super soft and absorbent. (It rained a little that day.)
