Oboz did a good job with these shoes. I was bummed to learn that Salomon discontinued their mid aero ultras (my favorite), which led me to these. I really wish there was more offerings for a “mid” breathable hiking shoe like this. I don’t like wearing low top/trail runners because stuff always gets in my shoes, and the trail running gators they make don’t work for me as most of my hiking is off trail and the gators always rip. Therefore, I like mids. Here’s some of my thoughts on the shoes. -They fit me well and are true to size. I feel there’s ample toe box room without feeling sloppy. Mid foot feels locked in and secure. I will say they don’t feel as laterally as supported on off camber stuff as the Salomons do. I think it’s because on these there is only mesh, where the Salomon’s have that thicker webbing. -the mesh they use on these is nice. It’s not as breathable as the Salomon’s but I almost prefer it because then not as much dirt and dust gets through. -there is a lot of cushion to these, if that’s what you prefer. I think most people will find that delightful on trail. For me I’m not a huge fan. I don’t like a tall stack height shoe because it feels less stable off trail, and I don’t get that tactile feel. It’s not a huge deal just something I noticed. The Salomons for sure have less cushion and they feel more stable, which I prefer. -sometimes I feel like I am almost maxed out on the laces, but that’s probably a good thing for support. -durability seems good so far. -I think oboz did a really good job with these for their intended purpose.
Great boots. Comfortable and durable for a long day of wear. Best I have ever owned.
Bought the last generation of these a little over a year ago an olive drab color and couldn’t be happier for a lighter weight and more breathable boot for the summer hikes while less water proof than others they will dry quickly. I’m total they’re comfortable and durable only other hiking boots I’ll wear are Salomon quest 4Ds which are slightly heavier but much more water proof.
Very well built, light and supportive. Lots of cushion throughout the sole, but especially in the heel. Great laces and lacing system….top hook is super slick, makes it almost impossible to miss when lacing up. Color is great and goes with almost everything. Would definitely buy another pair.
