I bought these in mid August in search of longer lasting shoes for daily walks/jogs with the dogs. I'd been a long time Brooks Ghost fan, but each pair have lasted for half as long as the previous pair. I have a pair of Salomon hiking shoes that have lasted 15 years and were comfy from day 1, so was optimistic about these. These too were comfy from day 1, but after 2.5 months of about daily use for 1-3 miles/day, the lacing hole second to the top tore through. The material is very thin and not reinforced in any way, so this is a significant design flaw. Looking at the same hole on the other shoe, the same thing is about to happen. The rest of the shoe (interior of heel cup and soles & lugs, both of which have been problems with Brooks recently) is holding up well, so it's a shame this flaw renders them useless. I've tried just shifting the lacing to skip that hole, but they're too insecure on the foot for trail jogs.
After realizing my Hokas were done for and maybe not the best for my hobbit feet especially for long trail runs with rocky sections, I tried Altras (I might as well have been barefoot), read up on a ton of other shoes and models, and finally bought these. They were very comfortable right out of the box and easy to run in. The only downside is I have to tie it in a certain way ie pretty tight not to have my heel feel loose. It does feel though that my feet are sort of sinking into the shoe as the weeks go on, so hopefully that will get better. These seem much better made than a lot of other trail running shoes in terms of the fabric and construction and I’m excited to try more.
I’m an avid road racing marathoner who recently got into trail racing. I tried so many different kinds of trail running shoes but they all felt too stiff or too clunky. I also wanted a shoe without a carbon plate bc it triggers my plantar fasciitis. It was a Goldilocks search and I’m SO happy I finally found the Glide Max TR. So comfy and has great grip on trails too. They feel even more comfy than my road running New Balance 880s. I’ve run in various conditions in the Glide Max TR and it’s been awesome so far. My one tiny, tiny issue is around the inside front ankle area - the fabric is a bit rough so whenever I wore short ankle socks it would chafe a little but I usually wear crew length socks on trail runs anyways so that solves the issue. Love this shoe!
I got these for mostly trail running because my prior pairs wore out quicker than I expected and these Glide Max shoes were on awesome discount so worth a try. I like them a lot based on first walk around comfortable. I’ve taken them on just a short run so far. The tread is great, not too much or too little. I like the decent amount of cushion. The lacing system is a bit weird in that the eyelits are far apart even though my feet are regular to narrow. I look forward to trying a 10+ miler in them.
Love the comfort and grip great as well on almost all surfaces. Please, please move to quicklaces instead of standard laces. This is a bit of a deal breaker for me as quicklace is more secure and less fuss to adjust on the trails. The colourways could use a bit of work as well. The choices are more road runner. Trail Runners are more about dirt, mud, etc. A little darker colours with a splash of brighter colour would be great. Love Salomon, loyal to the brand, just a few tweaks and a great shoe.
Decided to give these a try as my sense ride needed to be replaced after 500+ miles. I love these! Right out of the box I did a 10 mile trail run and they felt amazing! Great response, cushioning and traction! Have had many runs since then & I am loving them. So glad I decided to give these a go! Loved the green & grey color and they caught my eye. These will be my new go to! They were great for mixed trail - single track, wider trail, rocks & roots technical climbs and descents.
I bought these model of trail running shoes last month and I have done trail running twice so far. It is super light and comfortable, and the soles are soft and very supportive. The only thing I am not very satisfied about the shoes is that I usually wear size 36.5 for running and hiking, and but this pair runs a bit too loose for my feet, and I have to wear cushioned socks to prevent my feet moving around in the shoes. I should have bought a half size smaller!
I’m enjoying my Glide Max TRs. I love the cushion, not to soft but gentler on my joints than most trail shoes I run in. It’s rainy season in Oregon so these are better for dry, less muddy days on the steep hills. Nice wide toebox and stable heel. The tongue slipped constantly, uncomfortably on both feet, so I re-laced using the tongue loop to tether it in center, which worked well. Good grip but not for hill mud. Very comfortable.
These shoes are great for running hills, on gravel, on soft forrest floor, and on non-technical trails. I've gone anywhere from 3-15 miles in them with no problem, and they were a life saver on a recent trip where I was traveling for days walking on cobblestone streets. They're comfortable and have nice cushion, but you can still feel the terrain beneath you. (I live Thundercross better which is why I'm giving 4 stars)
I bought this shoe about 4 weeks ago to be my race shoes for my 60k. I was looking for a new trail shoe to replace my Hoka Stinsons because they were way too heavy to wear for 39 miles, but I still wanted cushion. These shoes have felt amazing from the moment I tried them on in the store. They provide cushion and stability but are so lightweight! I have put close to 50 miles on them and tested them on a 17 mile trail run and they were still just as comfortable. The only downside for me is how much the tongue moves, but this is just the first generation of this shoe, so there will be room for improvements. These shoes also have a slightly wider toe box, which I prefer. I am usually a size 11, so I am glad that these shoes run a bigger and the 10.5 fits me! This is definitely my favorite trail shoe by far and I am so glad I found it in time for my race. I will definitely be purchasing it again.
