Good design but it is not good for running
It's well made. There seems to have been some thought put into the design. However, it didn't work out for me. I bought this for running. I carry my 12 lb camera in the backpack while running. The camera fits in it fine. The mesh "plate" is too hard though. It started hurting my scapulae about a mile into the run. The seam in the chest strap also pressed against my ribs and caused pain. In addition, the metal frame in the middle rubbed against the camera/lens body and worn a couple of holes in the inner fabric liner after one run (8 miles). I gave up after trying it out for a week.
Perfect Commuter Pack
This is the perfect commuting backpack. The Airspeed frame keeps the pack off your back. I'm able to pack my clothes for the day, a pair of shoes, a jersey for the ride home (if it's a cooler morning), and my lunch. Packing all this does take some creativity but there's certainly plenty of room for the light packing commuter. I don't use the hydration bladder but I have the same bladder/hose on a different pack and I know from experience that it's pretty rad. I do wish there was some better retention for the loose straps as they tend to flap around in the wind. I'd knock half a star for that but since it's a whole star reviewing system, they get to keep the 5. TL;DR: This is a great pack for a light packing commuter.
Great Hydration Pack/ small hiking day pack
Great size. Has an integrated frame for stability and a mesh net against your back for lots of airflow between you and the pack. It’s really well designed with multiple compartments and the bladder is easy to remove and clean.
I love the pack, I
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the pack, I use it as an EDC and for mountain biking. I think it’s better setup than the Raptor. I was worried there might be rub points or hot spots with the external mesh frame but that’s not been an issue. It really is a very breathable pack. It’s great not immediately having a sweaty back when you put the pack on (thanks to the mesh spacing frame). I realize this is a very niche issue, but I have a pacemaker on the left side of my chest and the magnet used to close the upper chest strap actually turns my pacemaker/defibrillator off and makes it beep. Because of the obvious health risk, I can’t use the chest strap the way it’s originally setup. I wish Osprey would make a right mounted magnet strap or have the option of a normal non-magnetized buckle. Other than that, the pack is perfect for my needs.
2 many cases of a solution in search of a problem
I bought this to replace my 8 year old 3L Osprey which has served me well now beyond repair. Only a couple of Osprey hydropaks available on REI at the time and no 3L models. I figured how much difference can half a liter make? Turns out, quite a bit. You only find out after the fact that while Osprey does indeed make 2L, 2.5L and 3L models, you have to buy either the 2L or 3L model in order to get a hard plastic reinforced bladder and the 2.5L bladder is a floppy mess that really does not want to insert into a full or ever a partially full pack. Ugh. Then, rather than have an easy to use round cap that screws on like the older bladders, they paid some genius engineer to come up with a three handed sliding clip system reminiscent those plastic tubes we spooned peanut butter into for backpacking in the 1970's. Double ugh. And now we come to the bit valve. Sometimes you just have to shake your head. The old bite valve was perfect. Magnet, adjustable angle and it never leaked. The new one has a non adjustable angle permanently set to approx. 30 degrees where it really needs to be closer to 90 degrees. And on top of that, they've added a tiny little thumb flick of an off/on/partly-on flow switch that is not only non intuitive but takes your concentration off you and your bike to operate. Triple ugh. But the new nylon mesh which keeps the pack separated from your back is great. Sometimes you have to celebrate the smallest victories.
One of the best lightweight backpacks for hot weather hiking
Ideal for lightweight cargo to carry in hot weather conditions. High-tech & quality materials and convenience. I already bought Syncro 12, and now placed an order for similar model, Syncro 20, for variable occasions!
Ideal For Cycling
I was looking for a small, but full-featured backpack for cycling. This one is ideal for my needs. The quality of the materials, structure & design is off the charts.
I've been using my Syncro
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using my Syncro 12 hydration pack on longer rides and find it to be more comfortable than any back pack I've used for riding. Couldn't be more pleased.
