worthless warranty and repair policy

Worthless warranty. Grip *detached* from shaft while leaping across a chasm. I made it across but barely - nearly a fatal calamity, whew. Upon returning home, I contacted Leki for repair, ideally under the warranty but I'd pay if reasonable. They flatly refused to repair or replace the faulty section. Worst customer service from a gear company in my experience.

Great support for treacherous terrains

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I took these out for my hike at the Ricketts Glen State Park in Pennsylvania. With at least 7.5-mile trail, I did about 10 miles of hiking going up and down the rocky trails following the path of the rivers where you encounter beautiful waterfalls. Most parts of the trails were dry but certain areas were wet from the waterfall mists. With the trekking poles, they made it easier for me to have stability during my hike. Since i was already experiencing some pain in my right knee, they also assisted with easing additional pain during the hike. I'm 5'9" and weight about 165lbs. The length of the poles were easy to adjust. The cork grips were great. The wrist wraps worked great and didn't get in the way during the hike. The best part is that they are really light weight and not too bulky when storing them back into my trunk.

Great Trekking Poles.

The Leki Makalu Lite Cork Trekking Poles are a delight on the trail. I’ve taken them hiking for a total of 38 miles so far with a max pack weight of 30lbs. They held up great on the trail and crossing some streams. The pole tips made solid purchase as I descended down some steep hills, taking a lot of strain out of my knees. The cork grips conformed nicely to my grip. I was a little worried how the cork would feel after getting wet from rain and sweat, but so far the cork has not gotten a weird feel to it yet and has dried out nicely. The aluminum material makes these trekking poles light and not a burden whether stashed on the pack or in hand. The only aspect of these poles I do not care for are the wrist straps. They feel like a weight on my wrist, especially as I get warmer throughout my hike, and I get trapped sweat under the straps. Not a pleasant feeling. Luckily I don’t have to have them on my wrists to utilize the poles. As for sizing, these poles are easily adjustable as they use a Speed Lock system. To give an idea, I set mine at 125cm at both extension points and they fit perfectly for my 6’1” frame. Hope this review helps those in the market for new trekking poles. Overall, these are great!

Great Poles at a Good Price

Solid trekking poles, grips feel good, quick lock adjustments are easy to open but feel like they lock secure. Not the most compact, but perfectly good for day hikes and short backpacking trips. Tips appear to be pretty durable and have held up well.

A steady and versatile trekking pole

The design of this trekking pole is nice; it's lightweight yet incredibly sturdy, and the materials used are top-notch. One feature that stood out to me is the adjustable height. Whether I was trekking uphill or downhill, I could easily adapt the pole's length to match the terrain. The height holds well for an extended day hike. The grip of the trekking pole is comfortable and ergonomically designed, preventing any discomfort or fatigue during extended hikes. The wrist strap is also well-padded and adjustable, offering extra support and security. During my testing, I encountered a few water crossings, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the trekking pole's tip provided excellent traction, allowing me to confidently navigate through the streams without slipping. Overall, it's very nice upgrade from my old poles and I recommend strongly.

Light and tough

I’ve been using these poles on my morning hikes before work. Super lightweight, easily adjustable, and stow down quickly and compactly for storage. Adjustments are easy to make. The design of the handle is quite comfortable and the opaque top portion is pretty cool looking.

Best Poles Ever Owned!!!

Okay to be far…they are my *first trekking poles I have ever owned. But they are still fantastic! I was gonna go all out on some Leki carbon fiber folding poles to save a little weight. But when I learned that the aluminum poles are guaranteed for life (as opposed to something like a 1.5 year warranty on the carbons)…these were a no brainer. They’ve held uo super well for the hikes I’ve taken them on. Only thing I did find out today (on a snowy mountain in the Olympics)…is a wider snow basket is key in the snow and/or soft sand. That’s obviously my own fault for not equipping mine with snow baskets beforehand. Buying the baskets asap. Anyways…get these poles. You won’t regret it. Rad colors and bomber European build quality (designed in Germany and made in the Czeq Republic).

Pretty Good Poles With Some Nice Features

I've taken these out on some local trails over the last few weekends, and overall I'm happy with how the have performed/felt. Generally hiking poles are hiking poles so yes, they do what they are supposed to and they help take a little pressure off on the downhills, most importantly for me they keep my hands and arms moving so that they don't swell up - a frequent problem I have on longer hikes. I'm 6' tall with pretty large sausage fingers and I didn't feel like the grips were too small, which was nice. Also my first pair with cork grips and so far I like them, time will tell though how well they hold up with wear and tear. I think my biggest compliment for these poles are the quick lock mechanism, it's not necessarily unique for hiking poles but I like that you can adjust how tight they are just by hand and there's no need for a screwdriver. The only reason why they don't get 5 stars is because they are aluminum and no matter how much I try I don't have confidence in aluminum poles, they tend to fold in half the moment you apply pressure in the wrong direction, or if they get a little kink in them. If they were carbon I would call them near perfect.

Great Poles

Trekking poles are trekking poles, don't fret for hours over a purchase decision. I have had a few, and these are a solid choice. These poles have everything you do want in a trekking pole: collapsable (to put in/on your pack when not using), lightweight, strong, ergonomic hand grips, and functional ground tips. The lengths for the extension are clearly marked for easy reproducibility of length. The snap locks are easy to use and adjustable for how tight they bind. This is useful for descending steep slopes when you may want the snap locks to be tighter to prevent the pole from telescoping closed if you put a lot of weight on the pole when descending. The price is good and the value is high. You will be happy with this choice.

Best Poles I Ever Owned.

Bought these to replace my carbon fiber Komperdell poles that broke (pin came out and strap broke). Wasn’t expecting these poles to be as good as my previous poles, but they defied expectations. Took them for a 14 mile hike over the weekend and fell in love. Every placement of the pole to the ground felt solid. The straps are light and unencumbersome. The straps and the poles themselves adjust quick and easy. The poles feel light yet very sturdy. Love how the cork feels in my hands, especially when they’re sweaty.
