Perfect camping sleeping bag for couples!
This sleeping bag has exceeded expectations for camping. It’s extremely roomy I’m 6’0 and my wife is 5’1 and we had plenty of space. We used a queen size inflatable mattress also made by REI and the size of this sleeping bag unfolded covers the whole mattress. In case you are in warmer climate you can unzip the sleeping bag completely and it turns into two separate blankets. If the temperature drops during the night this bag will keep you nice and toasty.
Comfortable night at 38°F!
We loved this sleeping bag for my little family! We have a 2 year old and she slept right in the middle of us for a 2 night camping trip here in Colorado this past weekend! Temps got as low as 38°F. We felt comfortable! We just wore long sleeve merino wool/baselayer clothing to bed. I feel if it was much colder— we would probably add a blanket inside of the sleeping bag. But that wasn’t needed for us. We also sleep on top of an Exped Megamat duo, just as a disclaimer because I’m not sure how much that effects how warm or comfortable we were! My favorite part is the “neck flap”. It kept my chest/face warm if/when I put it over my face! The most important thing is that it kept our 2 year old comfortable. She slept throughout the night, Both nights!
The perfect sleeping bag for two!
The REI Siesta Hooded 20 Double Sleeping Bag is a warm, comfortable, and roomy sleeping bag for two. I don't know for sure, but I think this bag's 20-degree rating is probably the survival rating; the comfort rating is probably more like 32 degrees. My wife and I tested this bag out while car camping in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. The bag alone kept us warm down to temperatures in the low 30s. But one night the temperature fell to about 15 degrees, and so we each used a warm liner and a 40-degree down quilt inside the sleeping bag, and we slept comfortably. The outer material of this bag is very nice and made me feel like I was sleeping between my sheets at home. It has enough room that you could probably fit two adults and a small child, but the drawcords do a great job of minimizing any extra space and sealing in warmth. The dual draft collars are also a great feature for keeping the heat in when temperatures drop. There is no divider in the bag, so two people can snuggle up and share body heat. I also like that you can separate the top and bottom of the bag to form two separate quilts; I can see us taking advantage of this feature when temperatures are warmer and all we need is a top blanket. There are also two interior stash pockets, which we used to keep our headlamps close for when nature called in the middle of the night.
Love these sleeping bags for 2!
LOVE these bags. I bought this 2 replace our REI zip together sleeping bags that we bought in early 2000s. The older bags are still going strong but my kids were using them more and more and I wanted a bag(s) just for me and my spouse. Comfy, nice length, perfect for two and room for our dog at our feet. Based on the description, I was not sure if these would convert into individual bags. They do! One bag (bottom) will have more coverage around your head. The other bag (top) will be short but they do make 2 bags. I am planning to get a sturdier stuff sack but for now the included stuff sack works fine. I am a happy camper!
LOVED IT
My husband usually runs cold and he was warm all night in 37 degree Fahrenheit weathe, we loved the bilateral phone pockets in the top of the blanket corners, and the hood folded under our nemo sleeping pad to keep us from sliding while camping on a slant. Dog approved by our Ollie as well :)
Solid bag, no bells and whistles
Bag comfortably fits me (female, 5'6) and my partner (male, 6'+). I entered the height/weight info based on him. The bag doesn't pack down very small and is definitely made for car camping and the like but is well-made and comfortable. I'm used to my UL down backpacking bag so this feels very large - bigger than the size of two backpacking bags - but it is smaller than two car camping bags combined, and that is my primary use for it. With two people, it's pretty warm but it might be nice to bring a down blanket along for shoulder season or colder temps. Nice that you can cozy up in one bag but also have zippers on both sides as well as the hood which you can tuck a pillow into. There are two little pockets inside the bag (maybe for a phone or something?) but to be honest I never use them. They are on the top side of the bag so I worry about an item being flung out if I keep it there lol
A LITTLE TO THIN FOR MY LIKING
I bought this for just myself, just a girl, since I have two knee replacements and need something less restrictive for my legs inside. I was surprised how thin it was. I guess if two people were in it you might be warmer. My old sleeping bag was much thicker and warmer. You might say, because it was so big inside, but I use body pillows on both sides to fill in the gap. I ended up using a heavy quilt I brought to stay warm. It was a rainy night and was not that cold, maybe 50 degrees. I did like the little part at the top to put over my head to keep my face warm. I am not sorry I bought it, I just thought for the price it would have been a little thicker and warmer material. Thin makes it easy to roll up however.
Awesome Bag
I bought this bag a while back on sale and couldn’t be happier. This bag fits my rooftop tent perfectly and is the perfect temp for the summer, and I love that the zippers are so versatile so you can make it a blanket or stick your feet out. Perfect size for a couple. This bag is also great in the winter. Me and my friend both sleep inside our own down bags inside this double bag. Keeps us hot even in 10 degree weather. Would certainly recommend if you have a rtt. However, I would only buy this if it’s on sale, it’s a little pricey for a 20 degree bag otherwise.
Comfortable and roomy
Got this for the 4th of July sale. I wanted a sleeping bag to fit myself and my partner (we're two bigger guys - 175lbs and 250lbs), but wasn't sure if any would fit us both comfortably. I took a chance on this one and while I haven't had a chance to use it out yet, I'm thrilled that it fits us both very comfortably. I got the long kind for some extra room which is nice, but we probably could've fit into the regular just fine (we're 5'8" and 5'10"). If you're looking for a roomy, warm sleeping bag, I'd recommend trying this!
Warm and Roomy!
I liked this sleeping bag a lot. I tested it with my girlfriend and she likes it too. The two main things we liked was that it was warm and it was roomy. My girlfriend is tiny, about 4'9", and she gets cold easily. We tested this in weather that was in the 40s, and neither of us got cold. There are flaps at the opening that you can use to create a seal around your neck which will help prevent cold air from entering the bag. This bag is also roomy. My girlfriend and I had plenty of room to spread out inside. I did not feel claustrophic or too enclosed. I have a difficult time sleeping in mummy bags for this very reason, but with Siesta Double Bag this was not an issue. The stuff sack for this bag is big, but I wish it was a little bigger. Putting this bag away solo is not easy, but once you finally get it into the stuff sack then it is not too hard to get it all the way in there. I recommend having a partner to help you put it in the bag. This bag is heavy and bulky so it will be great for car camping, but I do not recommend it for backpacking.
