Smart wool is obviously a good brand and their hiking socks are great but the women’s ski socks are NOT built for woman with muscular calves. They were so tight around the calf, zero flexibility. Darn Tough make way more comfortable ski socks for women!
I found these when looking for wool knee socks for warmth in winter and that were not bulky. Initially they were very snug in the ankle when pulling them over my (wide) foot and heel, but this resolved after first wear. I love the multiple colors, warmth and fit. The padding at ball of foot and heel are minimal, so fit with street shoes/boots. Can highly recommend.
I was a little disappointed in the longevity of these socks. I enjoy backcountry skiing and after the first few times using these socks, they stretched out enough that they bunch some in the boots creating rub blisters.
These were too tight in the calf for comfort and I don't have large calves. They were also thinner than I expected.
My wife loves knee-high and over-the-calf socks. She was thrilled by the comfort and fit.
Fantastic support but still comfortable. Kept my feet warm and dry
Best ski socks ever! (According to my 13 year old daughter).
Bought a Small in store, and it was a perfect fit. I just ordered additional pairs. in Cranberry, online Smalls are out of stock. ** I a slim size 5.5-6 and slim calf. If you have a slightly beefy calf you might go up a size. They are a firm fit. Im Under 5' and wear minimalist shoes. Sock felt comfortable in the toe box area :)
The wool socks wore with my snowboots is a great fit. It's thin and long enough to go above my ankles. The material is thin but it's super warm since it's wool.
When I found the REI sale I googled "smartwool socks" in hopes some were on sale. Good socks are an investment, not just for your feet, but for your overall state of mind. They make you feel better & encourage you to put your boots on. To find them on sale is a wonderful gift which I gave to myself;- two pairs for the price of one!
