Good but not great for longer/complicated treks
Per normal with Fjallraven, the construction and quality of these shorts is amazing! The pocket options are plentiful, and I personally am a fan of no back pockets. I never use them anyhow. All that being said, the way they fit is a little odd. I also own the Vidi Pro Ventilated pants, Keb pants, and the Abisko shorts. To be fair I haven’t spent that much time in the Vida Ventilated pants, I normally wear shorts year round, even in the winter. Except for if it’s actively snowing or raining, and I’ll be outside for an extended period. I live in the North East fwiw. I spent most of the winter in my Abisko shorts, and got to wear the Keb trousers for a few excursions as well. All that being said to point out that I have a bit of Fjallraven gear to compare the Vida Pro shorts to. I spent the last couple days in these guys, went on a decent hike yesterday, and am not totally sold on their comfort for longer treks. My movement feels more restricted in these than the Abisko shorts, and the waist just doesn’t seem to ride the way the Abisko shots and Keb trousers do. While I do have free range of motion when moving, they feel a little snug in the crotch/upper leg, and I was constantly having to adjust/pull up the waist area so my day pack (mystery ranch 2 day assault fwiw, that’s a 27L pack) wasn’t pushing the shorts down and then having the pack rub on my lower back. I feel like it needs to be mentioned that I should wear a size 37/54 but I like a baggier fit at the waist and go with the 38-39/56 as my sizing option. Even having sized up, the shorts feel a little snug, especially in the upper leg/crotch area. When I say my movement felt “restricted” I mean in comparison to the Abisko shorts, and specifically going up steep inclines or bouldering. I could still do all those things but it just felt a little more snug. Something I half expected from reading other reviews about tightness in the calf area. I none the less love these shorts and I’m sure they will see a lot of use. But mostly day to day use, as I will stick with the Abiskos for hiking and such. Looking forward to giving the Keb shorts a go, but it’ll be hard to knock the Abiskos out as my favorite hiking shorts.

Had to return
Shorts not a loose fit. Maybe good fit for someone in their 20's. At 6'2" 175lbs with the correct waist size, they were a tight fit everywhere.

Tight, but sizing information shown is incorrect.

Great quality, and my third Fjallraven product (have Vidda Pro and Vidda Ventilated), but as others have mentioned, they are a tighter fit than I'm used to. I'm actually going to wear them a bit more, as I just tried them on 30 minutes ago, but I might return them if they continue to feel tight, or feel restrictive when I'm doing active stuff. HOWEVER, I must also point out that the sizing information shown, when clicking on REI's website, shows that 46 EU was a 31.5" waist. On the shorts (both the sewn-in label in the waistband, as well as the hanging label tag) it shows 46 EU as 30". I wouldn't have ordered them if I had known they were 30" waist. I normally wear a 32, and I was OK sizing down a half inch from a 32, but not 2".

Disappointing start.

A disappointing start for a lifetime of adventure with these shorts. Apart from the pocket fraying the quality is good. Never had a problem with this company before I’m sure it’s just a one off.

Ripped on first use.

Purchased these shorts and wore them for one hike. Rear ripped 3 inch gash during hike. For the price expected more durable material.

My new favorite shorts! Pocketing is superb!

The pocketing and fit on these shorts combined with the materials and quality is superb. While the price may seem on the higher end, I liked these so much I purched another black pair, and a pair in khaki. I tend to gravitate towards products of quality with a great user experience, and these are no exception. The pocketing is excellent, though I do still wish they had a back slip pocket. With that being said these maintain a nice shape, with all my EDC allocated in the variety of pockets. Personally I would have preferred the knife pocket on the rear left thigh pocket on the left, to be on the right for right hand access, but otherwise I forsee most of this summer's adventure pics with me in these shorts. Easily my favorite shorts I've had. They are relatively light weight, without feeling "too light", and still give me confidence to thrash around in them. All the button closure are robust and pocket items stay put. I couldn't recommend these enough.

Excellent shorts from Fjallraven

A really nice, tailored pair of shorts thoughtfully derived from Fjallraven’s flagship Vidda Pro Trousers. The length and leg opening of these shorts make for a slimmer cut without feeling restrictive. I appreciate the trim design and fit, while keeping the same versatility and functionality of the full-length version. I wasn’t quite sure about the G-1000 Eco fabric at first, but running it through the paces of building a garden, they’ve done nicely so far. I’ll take them on my BWCA trip this June and imagine they’ll be right at home in the Northwoods.

A Pocket within a Pocket Is All I'm Sayin'

I've never paid this much for a pair of shorts, but the Memorial Day sale was in full swing and I pulled the trigger. They are great once you find the right size. They do vanity size these a bit. They are snug in the crotch area a bit. So if you have a lot of meat and potatoes to deal with down there, things might get a bit squeezey down there. The pocket within a pocket will blow your mind. No back pockets is weird though. I haven't waxed these yet, but I will come fall. I've never waxed shorts. Now I get to. So stoked! Buy once, cry once.

Great Shorts!

These shorts feel good, look good and are very functional. The pockets have enough room for a folded up map, compass, keys, wallet, phone, and more. Everything I need in a pair of shorts for hiking and backpacking. Plus, they are G-1000 material so they can be coated in wax for weather proofing, so sitting on a wet rock doesn't ruin the day. No back pockets so everything is carried in the side/front pockets. 10/10

Shorts

I ended up returning these as the waist was good but the thighs were way too tight that I couldn’t really move
