Warranty Replacement

While on a trip to Montreal a couple of years ago, I had to purchase a Mountain Hardware brand rain jacket because I forgot to pack one. Recently when I washed it according to the cleaning directions, it ripped along the neckline. I contacted Mountain to get a warranty evaluation. I sent the jacket to them, and I was approved for a replacement. The company sent the funds for the new purchase. I am very happy with the jacket as it is exactly the type of light rain jacket I was looking for. The fitting is just right. Great warranty and I highly recommend the company for your next purchase.

Fit and Features

Solid waterproof jacket. 6’1” / 180 lbs. Jacket fits well over a mid to heavyweight layer like a hooded sweatshirt or a sweater. The pit zips are a great feature for regulating heat if in the car driving or doing something more athletic without having to take the jacket off to cool down. I have the yellow color. It looks just like the product photography. One tip for maintaining the jacket — hang on a plastic or metal hanger, not a wood hanger. The waterproof lining can become tacky and will stick to the wood and flake / tear away from the jacket.

Way Too Tight

This is based solely on the fit of the jacket, not the make. I ordered an XL and got a jacket that is so small and tight I'd barely call it a Large. I'm 6' and broad shouldered and I could barely fit into this in order to zip it up. I stood in front of a mirror and as Murray Hewitt might say, I looked like a complete and utter turkey. This is my third Hardwear raincoat and for some unknown reason they've completely changed their sizing for this jacket which is a total disappointment. I had to return it and now I'm hesitant to buy an XXL because the sleeves will likely be way too long. The jacket itself seems really nice, durable and well made. The fabric is tougher and different than previous jackets I've purchased from them, like the Alpen Plasma jacket. I was afraid to stand too close to lit candles in that thing, for fear it would either melt or catch on fire. It looks like it would be a great jacket that could last for years. Too bad the fitting is so off.

It works well, and packs down.

Excellent rain protection, slightly heavy for UL folk, but so functional. You won’t regret it. Mountain hardware warranty keeps me coming back.

True to size albeit a bit narrow in the shoulders, great rain jacket so far will update it abilities after my trip to Scotland in the spring.

I bought this jacket again

I'm satisfied with the jacket I bought and wore before. The jacket was thinner than I thought and had the problem of wrinkles on the back.

Light, sturdy, fits well, great in heavy rain, and able to layer under it.

Super happy with this jacket. Plain and simple, great light weight shell that is perfect for layering too.

Jacket fits true to size and is completely waterproof so far after wearing 3-4 times in fairly heavy rain.
