I'm a huge fan of Silva headlamps and the Terra Scout doesn't disappoint. First of all, I'm excited that someone is trying to weave sustainable technologies into the headlamp world. The use of recycled plastics and hemp is a pretty cool concept. For hiking at night or stashing a headlamp in my glove box, the Scout suits exactly my needs. It has a good combination of burn time/light distance and fits my head nicely. The battery is easy/quick to charge and I appreciate that I can switch over to AAA batteries if needed. I like the idea of the various light modes, but honestly I never use the red light. Glad to know it's there, though.
I've owned them all. Use for work and play. Most either break within a year, and/or you can't figure out how to use them. This Silva is simple. High and low main beam, which is all 99% of people need. Perfect projection with ZERO funky spots. No pointless flash mode that sends one into a panic. Thank you, and yes I work in life safety and it's just not needed. The rechargeable battery/AAA option is spot on. Further, it has usb-c, unlike another major brand with similar setup. My only complaint is the red isn't bright enough to read or walk by, and just barely bright enough to eat with, which is what most experienced users will use it for so you don't blind your group at dinner time. It needs an extra or larger red led bulb. As far as longevity goes, to be determined.
The intelligent lighting ability allows you to see objects close and far away without dark spots. Very convenient to have dual option of rechargeable or alkaline batteries. Has a comfy headband that prevents light slipping off your head during active use. Big button makes it very easy to locate and turn on/off.
Like everything with the headlamp, the rechargeable battery, long burntime, sustainable materials and low weight.
Finally a brand that offer a more sustainable headlamp! Smart battery solution! Nice color that also looks more sustainable 👍
Bright, comfy and easy to use and I can use it with the rechargable battery or with regular batteries! The head band is really comfortable and easy to adjust, also the on/off button is easy to reach and use. I would buy this again as the plastic parts seem durable too.
Nice traditional-style headlight - high/medium lighting intensities + red for night vision retention. First time trying a USB rechargeable type light but so far I like it. Nice that it’ll also accept AAA type batteries in a pinch.
For how minimal this headlamp is, it was exactly what I needed and more. I love that it is the first headlamp made with sustainability in mind. It is really well made and held up well to me constantly packing and unpacking it while backpacking.
Great headlamp! It is comfortable and bright. I appreciate the ease in changing brightness settings as well as switching to red light. Thanks, product engineers! I also appreciate having USB-C, and a removable rechargeable battery.
