[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was initially excited about this water bottle due to its sleek design and promises of durability, but my experience has been extremely disappointing. After just three months of use, the base of the bottle developed unsightly brown spots, which seem to be corrosion. I only used it for water, so there’s no reason it should have deteriorated this quickly and I’m concerned about the safety of drinking from it. For a bottle advertised as durable, this is a huge letdown. It’s not worth the money if it starts degrading this quickly. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a long-lasting water bottle.
I used this water bottle while winter hiking and it was great. I love having the extra capacity and my water didn’t freeze. The only drawback is that it is slightly taller than the traditional 40 oz Hydro Flask bottle so it no longer fits in my existing water bottle carrier.
I would not recommend it. It does not keep water cold, but if that wasn't bad enough, within 8ish months the bottle leaves a puddle of condensation on my desk. My cheap nonbrand from Costco which is 3yrs old at a fraction of the price doesn't that. I am sad to say this wasn't the first Hydro Flask bottle I've had issues with. Furthermore, you pay approximately $24ish to ship the defective item back to Hydro Flask (because they tell you it should have a tracking #) for the "lifetime" warranty. I have been using Hydro Flask since college but I will no longer be buying HF again.
I like the trail series bottles but there is an issue with this one. If you use the flex straw cap the included straw is too short. Hope hydro flask will rectify this issue. This bottle is two inches taller than the 32oz trail series.
So light - you barely notice this in your pack. I carry hot water 9 months of the year for hiking. So having a bottle to carry 40 oz and save me 8oz of weight is a win win. The color is amazing as well. Lid easy and secure. Overall a pricey bottle but for me worth it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was worried that the bottle would be too tall (as mentioned in a few reviews) but I honestly love it. It is tall, but find it functional and not too far off from my huge 1.5 liter bottled water that I tended to carry like my security blanket lol. I use it casually, to and from work and sometimes on the weekends. I absolutely love the orange color! I have gotten a few dents on it but I don’t mind. At the time of this review (3/9/24) the bottle boots for this version has been released! So happy to add the accessory and I think anyone interested in this size/volume amount would be very happy with this purchase.
Love it take it to the gym to work in the road love it!
I have a few hydro flasks and love the quality and reliability, but this one was just too tall for the side pockets on my Patagonia Blackhole backpack, and would undoubtedly have ended up on the ground, and with the “full” weight would probably have torn the pockets eventually. I’ll stick with my 32oz for now. On a side note I do highly recommend their new chug top.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the lighweight trail series bottle a few months ago and it retains heat or cold well and does not hold smells or flavors. However, the bottle dented the first time I dropped it on concrete from about 3 feet. Insulation held up through that first drop but a few weeks later, it fell out of a moving golf cart which caused the bottle to rupture and lose all insulating capabilities.
I love that it still fits into my cars cup holder! It keeps things cool all day long.
