- ChromaPop lenses enhance contrast and natural color to make details pop by filtering 2 specific wavelengths of light that cause color confusion
- Spherical Carbonic-x lens offers distortion-free optics with scratch and impact resistance; the Carbonic-x material meets Class 1 optical standards
- Spherical lens is built on a base curve in a pioneering 6 x 4 toric shape for optical clarity, improved fit, and improved fog performance via increased volume
- Tapered lens technology straightens out the incoming light rays by progressively tapering the lens from the optical center toward the peripheral view for improved accuracy
- Durable hydrophobic lens coating repels moisture, grease and grime so water beads up and disperses without streaking—and smudges from fingerprints are wiped clean easily
- 5X antifog inner lens for advanced fog-free performance
- Quick-swap MAG lens system uses magnets for quick and easy lens changes so you can adapt to varying light conditions
- Strong and weatherproof N52 magnets automatically guide the lens into the anchored position to speed up lens changes

- QuickFit strap adjustment system lets you find the right fit fast
- Ultrawide, silicone-backed strap stays put
- Includes 2 lenses with bright-light and low-light ChromaPop performance tints
- High-value bonus ChromaPop lens included at no extra cost

- Pair with a Smith helmet (not included) to eliminate gaper gap and allow precise alignment between the helmet AirEvac and the goggles' venting system
- Includes Smith x gogglesoc lens protector made from postconsumer recycled water bottles and a microfiber goggles bag with replacement lens sleeve

Fog turns to ice.
Kept fogging up and the fog turns into condensation which freezes up. I let my brother borrow my $50 Amazon goggles. Neither he nor my sister’s goggles froze at all during the day. I want to note that in one run on Breck, the goggles iced up so bad coming down from Peak 6 that I swapped to the Photocromic lens… and that one also froze completely in the next 10 minutes.
Approved for alaska
I ski in Southeast Alaska where it is 90% overcast and 10% sun. These goggles have been amazing so far. Super easy to change the lenses. The range of vision is great, I bought these over the 4D mag and was questioning the visual field. It has so far been a great choice. I also am very happy with the top vents, there has not been any fogging yet. However I have only used these for spring skiing so far. I have also paired these with a helmet that is not smith, but seemed to work out nicely. Which was good since I didn’t feel the need to invest in a full helmet/goggle set up.
strap silicone glue issue
I had to return the first pair due to the sticky silicone used on the strap to keep it from sliding off of the helmet melted off of it and all over my helmet. Seems it happened to another reviewer as well. Now the second pair I received has the same problem as you can see in the photo I attached. There is a lack of quality control. Very disappointing as they are great goggles otherwise.
Keep receiving open box items
This is the third(!) pair of I/O Mags I ordered from REI that were open box items. If you are going to sell a product for full price, at least sell a new product (or note that it's a return). The first pair's lens was scratched. The subsequent two pairs were fine but the boxes were destroyed and was an obvious rewrap of the product. Not sure if this is a Smith issue, an REI issue or a me issue, but it's very frustrating. I order primarily from REI and have only had this issue with these goggles. Haven't tried them yet to review otherwise.
The best.
My dog ate my favorite red IOs. They were just about perfect for me in every way. I was bummed about having to research a new pair and hope they were as good as my old ones. Smith had the exact same ones in stock, along with the clear lens that my little buddy munched. So great that Smith
I/O Mag Broken Strap
Recently purchased a pair of I/O mags, my first week skiing a strap completely tore while gently adjusting my goggles. Warranty has been filed but says may take up to 2 weeks to get back to me. Otherwise I loved the goggles and hope to have them replaced ASAP. Thank you, JP
Great quality, somewhat limited field of view
Great quality goggles, both frame & lens. Very comfortable and fit a Smith quantum helmet perfect. Lense are super clear and unbelievably good. I took 1 star away just because of the field of view is smaller than I expected. Mostly limited in the vertical field of view but also some in the horizontal field of view. I have some Zionor spherical goggles I wanted upgrade from. The Smith was more limited view than I wanted, to the point skiing moguls would force me to tilt my head down rather than looking ahead. I exchanged these for the 4D Mag, which have WAY more field of view. These are great, but not quite enough field of view for me.
Sun Lens is Great
I would give these goggles 5 stars because I love the design and how well the sun lens works, but the low-light lens tends to fog up with any moisture (such as a snowflake getting on the inside of the goggle). As soon as that happens, it is extremely difficult to remove the moisture. With a mask, occasionally the inner lens will fog up, but it is generally quick to dry.
Narrow view, disappointing lens performance.
I was surprised by how narrow the field of view was in these goggles. The lens looks large from the outside but frame and padding obstruct the view severely, especially around the nose. So a large part of that beautiful lens is just a decoration - you will never be able to look through it. Another disappointment was that while the "red mirror" lens rendered the terrain in great detail when looking away from the son, it produced lots of flare and reflections when the son was right in front of me. Much worse in that respect than my old goggles. I did not notice any issues with condensation, though I haven't used these goggle in inclement weather yet. Bottom line - not worth the price.
Strap broke TWISE
I’m so torn because I really do love these goggles. That being said I’ve had the strap break off of TWO pairs in a row that were less than a year old. In fact, the second pair was a replacement for the first and broke the same way after only a few WEEKS! If not for the clear defective nature of the strap I would give 5 stars for these goggles because I truly love everything else about them. But I also can’t ski in goggles that won’t stay attached to my helmet. Below is a picture of my second brand new pair that broke mid chair ride. Apparently a knot works better than smith manufacturing when it comes to attaching goggles to your head. I love smith products and will happily return to these goggles again. But there is a clear design flaw here.
