For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Got 3 pairs at this point and still not sure, need to try out still but I figured I'd write a review to help anyone buying now. I wear a women's 7 in street shoes. I based what I ordered in these on the tarantulas, a 37.5 is a little big and comfy and a 37 is a little tight. I wanted these to be all day comfy so I ordered a 37.5, they were HUGE. Ended up down sizing to a 36, they are comfy but fit... however not sure if they are too comfy and they will stretch out. For reference I'm usually a 39 in butoras (not gomis... those run smallll) and 38-38.5 in scarpas, 37-37.5 in La sportiva. I have never worn a 35.5 or 36. They run so big!!! Order 1-2 sizes down. I have narrow heels and midfoot, wider toe box and I am actually good with the shoe fit, I usually only fit well into butora narrows but it's a pretty forgiving flat last shape and could accommodate many feet shapes I presume. Photo is of my comfy 39 butora endeavors vs a 37.5 in the tarantula boulder.
Bought from REI July 2023 as my first pair of shoes. Finally retiring the shoe July 2025 due to sizing issues. Material, quality is great, no tears or holes even after 2yrs. I climb about 2-3 times a week, V0/1/2/3. Comfortable beginner's shoe. But, runs very large...my toes were swimming. I can walk home in these shoes, that's how comfortable they are.
I found this immediately comfortable to boulder or rope climb in. Slightly aggressive in its angle but the toes are still quite flat. Warning-- the shoes run big! I bought my street size and it felt super roomy even without breaking in. Probably not for narrow feet, too.
My street size is normally 7.5-8. I ordered a 37.5. These shoes definitely run large. They felt relatively snug, but I probably could’ve sized down another half size, as I worry they may stretch out too much. I was looking for something a bit more aggressive after my tarantulaces wore out. Although these are comfortable and fit my foot well, I will be returning. I found them to be VERY slippery, hindering my performance on familiar routes.
I love my other La Sportiva shoes, and was excited to see a bouldering version that was more aggressive, but comfortable. Unfortunately, these shoes did not fit well, they do run big, and the soles did not stick to the wall at all. I was very disappointed!
I'm 2 years into climbing and this is my 3rd shoe. I am a fan of this shoe for a beginner/intermediate climber. It is comfortable and the ease of getting in and out of shoe is fantastic with the 2 velcro strips. The shoe is a bit wide but I can pull the velcro tight to give a more snug fit. I recommend sizing down a 1/2 size as the shoe did stretch after a season of use.
