Very happy with this bike rack
I love this bike rack. Fit perfect on my Tacoma. Very stable and love that is locks so it won't be stolen. Multiple set up included for through axel fork or quick release axel. Highly recommend
Great product but misleading fitment application
The Thule website fitment application identified this rack as appropriate for use with a 2018 GMC Canyon (crew cab w/ 5-ft bed). Unfortunately, I did not realize that the bed is configured such that the rack cannot be located at the front. The result is that the tailgate cannot be closed unless the rear wheel of the bike is angled to one side. That is fine for one bike but not for two. Thule has been informed of the issue.
Sturdy
A bit on the pricey side for what's effectively a metal bar, but it's easy to set-up and the bikes are mounted super securely. I had concerns over having a mount that only connects to the fork, but the bikes don't wiggle around. Extra kudos for a seamless loading/unloading process: just make sure you have a allen wrench if you use thru-axle.
Quality bike rack that works well
The materials and quality are excellent. I expected some plastic parts, but was impressed with the strong metal components. This is very sturdy and I expect it will last longer than my truck. I was also impressed with the locks built into the rack so that it can not be stolen. Once installed it is very easy to remove the cross-bar so it does not hinder the use of the truck bed for hauling other items. I used this for two bikes with quick-release front wheels, and they are very easy to connect to the rack. Before using the rack, I was concerned that the bikes would move side-to-side when driving, but this does not occur. Once the front bike fork is connected to the rack, the bikes are locked in and do not move. I drove over some very bumpy roads, and the bikes never moved. Installation was easy, and Thule provides all the tools required. This can be installed by anybody with a moderate skill level. I was almost done with the complete installation in less than 90 minutes, but had one issue which is the only reason I did not give this a 5* rating. The bolts used to connect the top half of the bike mount to the bottom clamp on the bar should self-thread the bottom clamp so they do not require any nuts. The bolts though were too large and would not cleanly thread into the bottom piece. I started the bolt without the top half, and then assembled it on the bar. After one or two turns, the force needed to turn the bolt was so large that I quickly stripped the bolt head. Unfortunately this was before the assembly was tightly connected to the bar. I considered using a tap&die set to thread the bolt cleanly into the bottom clamp, but in the end I just removed the bolts. Fortunately I have spare bolts and nuts of various sizes which I used to tightly clamp the assembly to the bar. Once this was done, the bikes were easily connected and ready for transport. Overall this is an excellent product that is well made and should last a long time.
