As a trail and road runner I rely on a sturdy, well designed running shoe. I find the Nike Pegasus Trail 4 Gore-Tex is my favorite shoe. I have a torn hip cartilage, and I find I am able to run, sprint, jog and walk great distances in the Pegasus 4 Trail shoe. The shoe has outstanding cushioning and gives perfectly when traversing over rocky and rough terrain. They have great traction, so you can run with confidence over rough terrain. They are waterproof, however if water goes over the gator and into the shoe itself then your foot will get wet. The material is undoubtedly waterproof. I highly recommended the Pegasus 4 Trail Gore-Tex.
I took the Nike Pegasus Trail 4 Gortex for a 10 mile run with roughly 2,100 ft of elevation at a local State Forest. Went through dirt trees to gravel, ice on gravel, snowy trail, hard packed ice trail, frozen river crossings, streams, unbroken trail, mushy snow.. they even felt great on regular road. I was very surprised after going through unbroken shin deep snow my feet managed to stay dry. Very enjoyable ride. I was hesitant about purchasing this shoe because of the previous reviews about traction and slipping etc. but they’re awesome in the worse conditions this area has and I’m glad they were on sale. Looking forward to few less strenuous miles.
I bought them for winter road running and they fit the bill. They have kept my feet warm and dry all winter so far (New England weather). The sole is starting to wear as expected for a trail show being used for road work I run. 25-30 miles a week). I would only ask they offer a wide width. They are a bit narrow for me like all Nike shoes unfortunately, but they do soften up after a few minutes running. Some heel lock issues but resolved with tight lacing at the top eyelets. I get usually 4 months per shoe and expect these to get me to spring. And I probably will get a new pair for next winter (offer a wide width please!).
Ok the shoes are great BUT PLEASE DONT LISTEN TO THESE REVIEWS ABOUT SIZE. These are TRAIL shoes. They are suppose to have a more snug fit. Because I listened to the reviews I now own them too big rather than my ACTUAL size and they are sold out of my size. The toe box is wide and spacious. The ankle support is excellent. HOWEVER, if you get them too big and try to trail run or worse, hike, you will slide in these and run the risk of way too much movement inside the shoe, as I am experiencing. They are fantastic shoes and look great. DO NOT go a full size up. If anything just a half size but that ended up WAY TOO BIG for me.
All Previous models never let me down as I've started with Trail 2, 3 and now Trail 4 GORE-TEX same as previous models, the technology of waterproof it's worth the word as "GORE-TEX" and claim; Beside this the overall grip and design of the shoes itself are being extremely comfortable! I have been using the Trail 3 previously for a full year of running, training and walking through dry and wet conditions as my daily shoes due to living in a very wet country. What can I say... they still rock even after they're gone! Incredible shoes. Looking forward to test these beauties Trail 4 as the design and technology are updated from previous model. But to be honest the grip and aerodynamics of the Trail 4 are more durable than previous ones.
The Pegasus Trail 3, which shared more in common with the Infinity React Road shoe was (although heavy) very bouncy with a wide stable track. This in combination with the full length rubber sole made it the perfect road running shoe for Swedish winters when pavements are covered with a combination of snow, ice and grit. The Pegasus Trail 4 feels more like a lazy upgrade to the regular Pegasus road shoe and in the process lost the cushioning, width and stability of the 3. While the 3 was a genuine road to trail shoe the 4 feel more road and less trail. As a result I found another pair of Trail 3’s and returned the Trail 4s.
Glad I got these. Took them out for a 2 hour trail run through fairly muddy conditions. The Gore-Tex kept the water and muck out. Gore Tex also makes it easier to clean the shoes after. Love the funky colours, which can still be seen under the mud. I went up half a size based on another review, but that was probably unnecessary. Another review mentions the big Gore-Tex branding. It’s on the in-step of the shoe, you’ll barely see it. Beside, these are trail runners, they should be too filthy to make it out anyway
Feels comfortable, however, this makes it the second pair I've had to return. With the first pair, the front glue appeared to be coming loose, and the Nike print on the fabric began to crack after just three weeks of light walking. It seems that removing the shoes caused the fabric to stretch and the print to crack. Unfortunately, the second pair experienced cracking in the fabric near the area where it seals to the shoes. It appears that these shoes may not be the best choice for extended use.
I was at the top of Half Dome in Yosemite on 9/21/23 when the weather changed and brought heavy rain, hail, heavy winds, thunder and lighting. On the trek down many, many people had trouble with their footing on the wet, icy and slippery rock. I on the other hand, never had an issue with my footing. The conditions that afternoon were horrific. I watched a girl lose her footing and slide 300ft down the rock and off a cliff. These shoes saved my life and I’m so thankful for them. Thank you, Nike.
The react foam is great, feels super plush and squishy but stable for such a low stack, but does not lend itself to speed well. Also feels very much like they skipped the forefoot cushioning. The grip is 7-8/10 until you???ve used the shoe a couple times, when the traction disappears in the forefoot completely (I???m a heel striker so that???s probably not a factor) and it???s like 4-5/10 at best. The goretex works of course, but the relatively low cut sort of works against the waterproofness. I really like the feel of it when just going slow. I will probably use these primarily for hiking as opposed to trail running
