Do not recommend the lavender color
I do not recommend this cost in the lavender color. The color is so light that you can see the down filling. The coat looks dirty but it’s the down fill you are seeing. It is especially noticeable anywhere there is stitching. Also, the coat is tight across the back. I’m 5’4”, 171#, chest 38-40 C. Tried to add pictures but can’t get them to load.
Pillow for your body
I love this hoodie; absolutely love it. I am extremely particular about my athletic wear and was given this jacket as a gift from my boyfriend. I wear it almost every week, bring it with me at night or on trips, and can pack it for camping/hiking to use as a sleeping pillow, an additional layer for warmth under rain/hiking/ski clothes, or by itself with a t-shirt for chilly nights. It can scrunch up really small, it really keeps you warm when you're hiking or doing activities outside and the wind is brisker than expected. I've worn it under a rain layer hiking Camp Muir, Mt. Saint Helen's, salmon fishing in Valdez, Alaska, camping in the North Pole, Alaska, and to the Washington State fair, or by a bonfire at Golden Gardens; it is incredibly versatile. I have an athletic build and don't like bulky clothing and this hoodie is the perfect amount of 'down' cushion - it is light and I don't feel like I look like a tomato as I have felt before in other branded padded clothing - I also love that I can use this jacket as a travel pillow on planes or camping if needed because the flexibility it has to conform. The only issues are that it isn't super breathable and it's not super water proof. But that's not what you'd be buying this jacket for. While it could be made with sweat armpit zippers or a waterproof outer-layer, that would change the consistency of the hoodie and make it less flexible. As a heavy sweat-er, I try to avoid wearing this hoodie when doing an extreme activity (to not get the fibers inside smelly), but you get over 20 wears low - medium/semi-high before you have to wash it, AND the sweat smell does not stay like it does in cotton or polyester brands. Really just a great all around jacket to have and great gift if looking to get something an active or non-active friend or family member.
I Own Two!!! Soon To Be Three!!!
Best jacket ever!!! This is my go to for everyday life, backpacking, day hiking and worn under my ski jacket for extra warmth. I love this jacket. It’s lightweight, packs down small but it’s so warm. It’s made with quality products and holds up to most activities. It does shed some of material from inside like a down jacket but that’s not a big deal for me. The price is right especially if you’re on a budget. Great job OR, I own two and planning on another.

Not durable or warm, and OR won't do anything about it.
I had high hopes for this jacket but after owning it for 3 months, it is not warm, and the fabric tears very easily. The sleeve got stuck in a zipper and tore instantly. I also have a Patagonia micropuff and the jacket is crazy durable, has been stuck in zippers, and you can pull it out, and is much warmer. The wind blows right through this jacket. It's like it is made of tissue paper. I would never take this on a long backpack or trust this coat as it wasn't able to hold up to normal wear and tear for even 3 months. Additionally, I'm taking with customer service and they aren't doing anything for me at the entry level. I have tons of OR and Patagonia gear, and generally I like the OR gear, but their customer service doesn't hold a candle to Patagonia, who would have repaired or offer a new one for free, no questions asked. If this is how OR treats their customers, I will be we buy their gear again. This gear is too expensive to bit have some kind of customer service backing.
Beautiful and versatile jacket
I love the larch/yellow color of this jacket! It fits well and I like that the back is a little longer. The outer pockets zip, but are deep enough to securely hold your phone or keys without being zipped. I've worn this jacket to run errands around town, for a walk in drizzling rain, and on a hike in 25 degree F temps. It fits under my hard shell rain jacket, making it a great layering piece. A nice sub for my down puffy when weather is damp. Nice elastic around wrists and hood keep the cold out. Very stuffable for backpack or travel.
Great lightweight layer
I love this jacket and the mauve color! I live in a cold climate and will mostly use it for a fall jacket, layering in the winter, and a summer replacement for my down puffy when the weather looks damp. I am 5'6" and very thin, and got a medium to layer underneath it. It stuffs very compactly into its own pocket (but that took a little effort)
Cozy and lightweight
Great should season puffy. Perfect for spring and fall hikes, day to day adventures and everything in between. I wear a 4X and feel that I can wear a lightweight technical fleece under the jacket no problem. The colour options are great. This was gifted to me by OR.
Light as a feather and so warm and lovely!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has become my new mid-season go-to jacket. First of all it's so soft, it's a pleasure to touch, and it's so light it feels like you're wearing nothing, and on top of that it's perfectly warm! And it has pockets in just the right place and I love love love the color which happens to go with just about everything I own. So yes, this is an enthusiastic five stars, and the price was right. I'm 5 foot 3, 122 pounds and I got the small and the fit is perfect. Thank you outdoor research! Up to now I only had your hats little did I know you made this other amazing stuff. Elle (Marina del Rey California, where I still have to wear a puffy in June!)
Excellent hiking jacket
So lightweight and accommodating! I've taken this baby out on hikes in windy, exposed areas, intense scrambles, shaded forests, and temperatures from 18º to 48º, and it just seems to say, "Give me more!" The mark of a good hiking jacket for me is not to realize it's there, and this fits that...MOST of the time. It's got a slightly annoying little scritchy sound when the arms rub against the body of the jacket when hiking. I hope it will wash or work itself out over time. And the arms are a little narrow. My favorite cold weather sweater is not comfortable under it. I'm a little concerned about the zipper too. It is not terribly robust. But the "Pros" outweigh any little annoyances. Very generous zip pockets and huge inside pockets, SO lightweight, packs down to practically nothing, comfortable long back covers well, pockets thoughtfully placed just below your pack waist strap, hood fits well and doesn't slip down over your face, ...and the color (I got the yellow)! I half-kiddingly told my family that the bright yellow will help SAR find me. It's really attractive too. All around, it's a winner.
Just a bit lacking in features
I bought this for backpacking, hoping to replace an older puffer with an ultralight technical puffer for summer in the Sierras. I was mainly drawn to the superstrand insulation and its excellent warmth to weight ratio that many gear blogs raved about. Also, I was obsessed with the moth color - it's just as pretty in person! In practice, the sleeves are WAY too long (I'm 5'2", +0" ape index, 105 pounds) and the sleeves completely covered my fingertips. I climb and knew this was going to such an annoyance when belaying. I was also surprised by the lack of chest pocket and how cheap/tiny the zipper pulls seemed. Sadly, I will be returning this jacket.
