Good organization, fabric fades quickly

Pros: the design is good. I was looking for a bag without too many compartments and features, since they can add weight, and I never use them, and this fits the bill. The laptop sleeve is a good size, and the bottom stops before the bottom of the bag itself, so you don't plunk your laptop on the floor when you put the bag down. The water bottle sleeves on the sides fit a 32 oz Nalgene, but only if you don't stuff the main compartment full (a drawback with any non-elastic bottle sleeve). Cons: I got the black one, and the fabric faded really quickly, like in less than a year (and I live in Boston, where the sun isn't beating down like crazy). To me this makes the bag look less professional and polished. Also, the fabric wore away at spots where it rubs, like the bottom right hand corner where the strap is.

Great except for one small detail...

I really love everything about this pack except for the fact that it won't sit up no matter how full it is. There is a section designed for a laptop with a pocket on each side, which is fantastic for papers and documents. The middle section expands so that it holds a lot more than you would expect, and has an interior zippered mesh pocket. The third section also has two mesh pockets (the top one has a small clip to attach a key or similar item, and another mesh pockets below that one) plus three vertical pockets that are perfect for pens, and similar items. There is also a small felt pocket for sunglasses or other items that need gentle treatment. There is yet another small exterior zippered pocket, and pockets on each side for water bottle or similar items. It is comfortable to wear, and has a leather handle at the top. I bought this backpack to use for work, but also ad a carry on when I fly. It will work great as a carry on because it will lay flat under the seat in front of me, and can hold lots of stuff (electronics, charging cords, meds, etc). But when I arrive at work and take it off, I have to find something to lean it against which usually means putting it on the floor because pulling items out and putting items in is a lot easier when you can find a way to keep it upright.

Not BIFL

I bought my Raven in Oct 2021. With most people toting this as a buy it for life bag, I did not share that experience. I like a few things about the bad. Good organization, the material is durable and comfortable on the shoulders. Minor issues for me. It won't stand up on it's own. A luggage pass through would be nice. If your bag has stuff in the main compartment it gets difficult to use both beverage holders as they are not elastic banded. Major issue is after 2 years one shoulder strap tore and made one strap unusable. It is a bit frustrating that I have spent significanlty lower amounts on bags that are still going. Due to those issues I would not recommend this bag.

Excellent Business Backpack

Purchased for use as my work bag. Best laptop bag I have ever had. Three large compartments enable my papers, laptop (MacBook Pro 15"), chargers, adapters, portable keyboard, notebooks all have a place and are kept safe and neat. There are also compartments for small items that would get lost in just an open bag. Best is the fit. It is a bit more rigid that my old bag which works great for a work bag v. a weekend day pack. The straps are very comfortable as well. While I am not the most fashion conscious person, the styling of this bag certainly fits better in a professional office than my old day pack/computer bag. Highly recommend this pack!

The best commuter backpack

I purchased this pack for my daily commute and can’t speak more highly of it. The compartments are so well organized and absolutely perfect to hold laptop, cords, phone, lunch, and any other odds and ends I need to bring with easy access. 28L is the perfect size without being too bulky. I commuted thd other day in torrential rain and the waterproof weave is effective (I put my laptop in a grocery bag and phone in a ziplock just in case). The side pockets while they don’t have elastic are great. My 32 oz hydroflask fits perfectly in one and my 12 oz leakproof coffee mug stays put in the other. Thd backpack is also super comfortable. Its a winner by far.

My work backpack and my carry-on

This backpack is my daily work backpack and I take it on all my flights as carry-on/under the seat. I love all the niche pockets-- especially the smaller top pocket that almost functions as a wallet for me. They have all these handy little pockets throughout the bag as well. I love the spacious middle pocket where I can fit sweaters or a lunch box. The front pocket is great as well and bigger than I expected. I also LOVE that I can still fit my 32oz Nalgene in the sides of the backpack even when I have my laptop and all my things in it. It is a tighter squeeze but the wide water bottle still fits just fine. The backpack doesn't stretch that much--the material is pretty taught-- so I pack upwards rather than horizontally. I do love the material though and how it seems water-resistant (I'm not sure if it is officially) You can still fit a fair amount in it and I've used it for minimalist weekend trips but it's not a ~roomy~ bag. Keep in mind that out of the three main sections, you can only stuff clothes and things in the first two. The third/back section is mostly for laptops (plural) and flatter items. So even though it's mainly a commuter bag, I've found that it functions well for trips. The bag is very durable and high quality although that part shouldn't be surprising and I'm hoping it will last me a while. I don't think I would take it hiking, but I would take it car camping. Overall, I love this bag a lot and I can't think of anything else I would want to be added to it.

Great versatile pack

This backpack is great. There are tons of storage options, with lots of little compartments and zipped pockets inside. The laptop pocket also offers off-the-ground protection so your laptop and tablet don't sit on the floor. Very comfortable and breathable back and straps. Just a really quality pack. My main complaint is that the g-1000 material really likes holding onto dust and dirt, just the nature of the fabric. Another gripe is that the side water bottle pouches don't accomodate my large 1.1L water bottle as they are not are not elastic, but I can't realistically expect them to. Nothing is perfect, but this backpack is very close.

Needs replaced after two years

I bought this backpack in 2023 for college and experienced many of the issues other reviewers spoke about: stiff water bottle pockets and very front heavy (often falls over). Neither of these issues bothered me much. However, the most troubling aspect is how quickly the bottom of the mesh degrades. There are multiple places where my laptop case is exposed! my laptop would fall straight to the ground when the mesh inevitably fails. Maybe my laptop was too heavy, who knows? Otherwise, this backpack was great. Many useful compartments, and I really stuffed it full when bringing it on travel. Wish it could’ve lasted me more than two years.

Fabric Chafed

The material is too fragile. The fabric chafed after only one week of use. The design could be better by putting tougher material at area with more friction and contact. My old Osprey backpack designed with a different fabric for the bottom end of the bag to protect it against wearing and resting on the floor.
