Stains even with hand sanitizer- AVOID
Amber10m
My husband got this for me for Christmas in Moonlit. From the get go there were issues with staining. Some drops of hand sanitizer got on this jacket and it took oxyclean and 3 washes to get it out. No matter what i did the smallest drop of anything has stained it. Never in my years of wearing outdoor jackets in the PNW have I encountered such poor quality in a high end jacket. I sent photos and an inquiry to Arc'teryx customer service and they said that it's not covered under a limited warranty, so I'm stuck with a jacket that won't stand up to even daily use/elements. Their answer was not helpful and they lost 2 customers today. For such a high end product I expect at least good customer service. They didn't even offer me advice for getting the stains out. For now I have a 240 dollar jacket that I'm afraid to get hand sanitizer on. Avoid.

From volcano to glacier

I loved it. Totally worth the money and quality is top grade. I wore it a couple of days straight in Iceland. From climbing a volcano to hiking a glacier. Truly a great mid layer.

Too short

I have three of these and they're fine but just too short for my liking - I'm tall, but not that tall (5'9.5"). It's not so much that I dislike the look of this length, but I just wish there was a little more clearance when I have layers underneath. E.g., I have to tuck in my base layer, or else it sticks out the bottom. My other frustration is that the smaller sizes have shorter lengths - if I was an XL, the length would be fine. Why does Arc'teryx assume that taller people are also bigger? Us taller thinner ladies are stuck with things that are too short. It's frustrating. Also, I really dislike the colour selection this fall season. Where are the rich, bright colours?

New revised fit?

I have several Atom hoody’s dating from 2013 to 2019 as well as an SL all in Large. I wanted a jacked without the hood and ordered my same size based on the statement that this was a revised fit, designed to fit closer to the body, trim fit etc. This is huge, especially the arms. Additionally, the collar comes up over my chin. I wear a Medium in some Arc jackets but the Atom has consistently previously fit well as a Large. Am very disappointed and am reluctant to shop knowing that I can’t count on consistent sizing. Besides quality that was one of the appealing things about Arcteryx.

Jacket is second to none

I already own an Atom jacket and decided to buy one for my wife. She absolutely loves the jacket as it is comfortable, warm, and high quality. It also looks good when you are signing the register at a new summit!

Best Insulated Jacket I Own

I use the Atom the most out of any other “puffy” I own. It is hands down, the best and warmest out of the three I have hanging up, and it has proved that it is worth its price time and time again.

New sizing and fit is a challenge

I have tried this jacket in a large (absolutely huge, esp the arms) and a medium (too snug to be comfortable with any layers). I am at a loss. It appears that the cut and fabric has changed and the Atom that fit perfectly in a large and is tough as nails is no more. I will stick with my older Atom hoodys. May be worth a try for some, I’ve given up.

More Versatile Than a Jacket Has Any Right to Be

This jacket looks good no matter what you wear under or over it. The layering capabilities are what really make it a standout. Underneath a waterproof shell or wool overshirt you're set for any weather condition. Over top of a long or short sleeve shirt you've got a remarkably sleek fit that provides warmth on the front and back with a little stretch and ventilation on the sides to make sure you never get clammy. I love them (I have two) and consider them essential wardrobe pieces for home and travel.

Nice and light- just doesn't fill the need I have

Falls between two stools- large is a nice fit and flattering in the body (40 inch chest & hips), though sleeves are far too bulky. It would fit under a raincoat or heavier outer layer- in which case why have such a high collar and bulky sleeves. If worn on its own I don't get the stretchy, non-insulated side panels. I'd prefer this with a lower collar like the men's, same construction throughout, and slimmer sleeves. For this price it has to be perfect. And must you have the prominent logo?
