Really versatile base/mid-layer great for Skiing!

This is my 3rd piece from Arc'Teryx. I've only owned an MX softshell and Alpha Gore-Tex shell so this is my first base/mid-layer. It's in the fleece category but really should be considered more of a secondary base layer. As far as fleece's go, it's very light weight. Regardless, I am loving it so far. The integrated neck gator is a super cool idea that I use primarily for skiing and the thumb holes work great for putting on gloves and keeping the layer in place. I've read people saying it's warm but that is obviously subjective. I find it to be on the less warm side but no complaints. It pairs perfectly in between a thin merino wool base layer and then my shell over top. I never get cold in 20+ degrees F. I ski primarily in northern Michigan where we get some pretty high humidity winters. This Delta Hoody combined with proper layering moves a lot of moisture away from my skin. And if you don't ski, you can dress up like a Ninja any time you want! Great technical garment I highly recommend it.

2 words. NINJA HOOD

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing versatility thanks to the 1/2 zip and ninja hoody. I mainly use this ski touring. I love that I can dump heat when I’m scorching on the way up and the. Later I can zip all the way up and throw the hood on for the downhill.

Delta 1/2 Zip Hoody is the best

This hood is my primary go-to piece for almost all fall-winter-spring outdoor activity. I wear one almost every day and have bought them for friends and as a work uniform. The material is warm and moves well with the body. The hood and neck piece combination is excellent and allows both wide venting when hot or zip it up tight to hide inside when it's cold. The hood is also good under a climbing helmet and keeps your head, neck, ears warm while climbing without distractions. I typically wear something thin against my skin to handle moisture and then layer the Delta on top as my second layer. It comes off when I am working hard uphill but otherwise I wear it all day. You need a wind barrier on top of the Delta as it doesn't block wind at all.

New favourite

I bought this hoody 3 weeks ago and have used it quite a bit for nordic skiing so far. Very comfortable, breathable and not too warm. I've skied in temps between +5c to -15c so far, adjusting layers as needed and at the end of each session it was pretty much bone dry with my "breathable" shell being soaked. I love the fit since I'm usually between M and L and fits right in between, so I'd say it fits a little larger than other Arcteryx medium garments. Length is a little longer than expected which is good since no wind gets through when striding or double poling. Very comfortable against skin and odor resistant compared to other synthetic base layers I have. Overall very impressed, will buy another if this wears out but so far seems very durable.

This is a “Go to” layer for me.

The Delta 1/2 zip hoody is just the right weight for high output activities in the cold, but is widely versatile depending on how you layer up. I wear this piece ice climbing, hiking, ski touring and even under my drysuit when SCUBA diving. The hood gives you the added benefit of donning and doffing on the fly without digging through pockets for that light weight toque. Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed.

Nice Piece, Large Hood

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice layering piece with the ability to dump heat via the zip. Maybe slightly lighter weight than older R1s. Only issue was with the hood sizing. For someone who has a fairly average size head, the hood was too large and bunches up under the helmet or is excessively loose without a helmet.

Go to everything fleece

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I test drove this on the Grand Teton a few months back and never took it off! It breathes well on the uphill and stays warm in the alpine. The hood fits perfectly under a helmet and the built-in balaclava is a stellar option to have. Can't wait to bring it out on ice and snow this winter.

The go-to layer for Ice climbers

I've been using my Delta Hoody for a few seasons of ice climbing. There wasn't a day I went out ice climbing without it. It's just the perfect active layer. I wear it over a merino shirt and under a lightweight softshell. The hood fits very well underneath an helmet.

Best pullover I've owned

I bought this in the summer and have worn it almost exclusively out on climbing trips and trail runs as a stand alone layer or mid/sun layer. The 1/2 zip is great for shedding heat quickly, and it also holds heat in well on colder outings with the built in balaclava.

Versatile, comfortable and looks good!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) A built-in neck warmer/balaclava is a feature I did not know I needed until I bought this. Warm but breathable and looks as good as anything else in my wardrobe. Hits every target, in typical Arc’teryx fashion.
