The first thing I noticed upon receiving this product was the incredibly soft fabric. The outside of the fabric is smooth and silky, and the inside is almost-fleece-like. They are extremely lightweight and pack into a very small space. Sizing: I’m somewhere between a large and extra-large, depending on the product. The sizing of these seems just right. I’d suggest ordering on the smaller side if you intend to use them as a base layer, but maybe size up a bit if you’re going to wear them over another layer. I think that’s the beauty of these – they can be used in a variety of ways. I tried three methods; 1) with silk long underwear underneath and the Rho bottom as outerwear on a cold day, 2) as a base layer under thicker fleece pants (see pic) on a very cold, windy day, and as stand-alone pants on a sunny, snowy day. Each method offered excellent breathability and instant warmth, though I liked the feel of the Rho’s directly against my skin best. Other benefits: The zippered patch pocket is large and secure enough to hold my phone, and the wide waistband is super comfy.
I love the softness, comfort and the way this product feels. The side pockets are very useful and I like the almost invisible zipper. The waistline support is a plus. I highly recommend the Arc'teryx base layer bottoms.
A really great pair of cool weather leggings. I’m 5 ft 8 and got a size small. Very stretchy but I could have also sized up. A very pretty intense blue that’s not so bright it can’t be worn as a sort of neutral. Took these on a cool weather low intensity hike and they did great. Stretching fabric that doesn’t slide down as you move. They are a nice slick fabric on the outside with a fluffier outside to keep you warm, but not so much that they get uncomfortably warm when moving. The cut of them are also great, nice and long and high waisted with a zipped low profile pocket. Definitely recommend, cool color and sure to get a lot of use as the weather cools off here in CO. Will probably be my go-to base layer for snowboarding this season!
This layer is perfect for crisp fall morning hikes when temps can change as the day gets started. It's warm enough to take the chill off and not be constricting. I love the phone-sized pocket for keeping my hands free in case I need to grab a branch.
Fantastic fabric! The first thing I noticed about these base layer bottoms is how soft, smooth and stretchy the fabric is! I've been wearing them as an outer layer (tights) to climb, hike and travel. They are now my "go-to" tights (wear them whenever they aren't in the laundry). The color complements a lot of the tops I already have so that works well. The only slightly negative element is that teh zippered pocket on the leg is just barely big enough for my phone (iPhone14) so it is hard to get in and out. I like that it is zippered but the size is just a little small for getting in and out quickly.
I bought these a couple of months ago to wear as a base layer for my Iceland trip. I took the tags off the day I wore them for a hike. I liked the compression and they fit great. That being said they were on the thin side. After my hike I realized I had a small hole on my butt. I feel like for the cost of these leggings I should be able to get more than one wear with them. Very disappointing.
These are easily the most comfortable base layer bottoms I’ve worn. The outside is smooth but the inner layer feels like a soft blanket. I really appreciate that they don’t slide down with a lot of movement - on a cool fall hike they stayed in place and kept me warm without additional layers (but will be great under ski pants for cold days on the mountain). The small pocket fits items like chap stick or credit cards.
I love these pants. Warm, soft, stretchy, waistband not too tight, the perfect length for my height 5"5"...I am a textbook size M 6-8 and these fit perfectly. Worn around a cold house, for winter runs in NYC, and as an around camp base layer. They are decently low to no stink (for a synthetic fabric) after multiple wears, wash well and still look brand new. I have not noticed any quality issues like others have mentioned, but as I bought an unpopular color on super sale, my expectations are lower than they likely would be had I paid full price. Would buy again!
I bought this for skiing and hiking and wore these skiing and after 1 or 2 wears the stitching is already fraying. It’s kept me very warm and I really like the pocket but I’m disappointed that it doesn’t seem to be holding together well and I’m not confident this will last like it should. This is my first piece from Arc’teryx and I was so excited only to be let down.
Oh goodness one use and I acquired a hole on the bottom. Not the for good hiking for sure 🤦
