The boxers arrived and I decided to hand wash them to see if the red clay color would run. It did not which is a bonus. I love the reddish/brown color, and it is a plus that no special washing or handling had to be done. The elastic waist band is an excellent fit, not too tight or too loose. I was worried that due to the width of the waist band it would be really tight. Not at all. Overall the texture and feel is very smooth and soft. During hot days the boxers were breathable and still nice fitting. I have worn them 4 times and really like them with no negative aspects. I would love to see if they will have an organic option in the future which would make these an excellent option ( 5 stars )
These boxers feel great and was looking forward to them. Unfortunatly the medium boxers seem to fit more like larges so they didnt fit me, no smalls in stock so i was out of luck. The medium size waist band is about 2 inches wider than all my other medium boxers from various brands. Im a 31 inch waist typically for pants for yall referance.
Great boxers with a great fit. I’ve taken them out to three trails, at work, and on a run so far with no bad experiences whatsoever. I usually experience quite a bit of chafing with regular Hanes or fruit of the loom boxers but this Merino fabric really made a difference. They do run fairly large amongst other small size boxers but only around the legs, the waist runs the same. I’ve inserted a photo comparing to a regular sized Kirkland water bottle for reference. Overall would recommend to a friend.
I've been on a wild hunt for the greatest pair of merino underwear, and let me tell ya folks...these might be them. I've tried ExOfficio (both boxer and boxer briefs), Smartwool, Wooly, Patagonia (not merino, but still), and none compare to these. REI knocked it outta the park on these bad boys. They do run a bit large though - for reference, I'm a 34 waist (6' and 195 lbs) and the mediums fit me perfectly.
I bought 6 pairs. Best fitting boxers I own. Secure waist band but enough room in the thighs. Most boxers are skin tight which I hate. Only 2 stars because after 1 year all 6 boxers have see through wear spots on the front. The durability on these is unacceptable especially at the $40 price. Never had this issue on another product. If REI changes the material blend to be more durable I will give then another try
These are great. They're what I'd expect from wool boxers in terms of performance. They are comfortable, not too thick, and stay dry even when active. I got a size small and the fit is great. Unlike most of my other boxers (Fruit of the Loom, and Ex Officio) these don't have a lot of excess material, which means less bunching, less material to soak up sweat, but still loose enough to be comfortable and to have freedom of movement.
Like all the good premium boxers REI will surely stop making them. Ridiculous trend. At least they're consistent. Better get some now before they're gone forever.
I have merino boxers from 4 different brands including REI. They all have good fit and comfortable fabric. The differentiator is the waist band, which stays flat and comfortable on the REI boxers. The others are prone to the waist band rolling over on itself, making it a thicker and narrower strap that can cause discomfort.
The perfect boxers-- fabric is a unique blend of materials that creates some of the softest, best boxers I've worn. I have sensitive skin and it's perfect for them as well. I'm between a Medium and a Large generally and the mediums fit perfectly with generous space (the larges were huge around the waist though, I ordered both). Good stretch too. Hope REI never discontinues these!
I bought these because I love merino wool Products but had not bought rei brand before. Unfortunately, out of the 3 pair I bought, only I is salvageable and wearable now. The other two had holes in them and literally began to tear after 4-5 washes.
