Yakima  SightLine Towers - Set of 4

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These seem like a great deal , I no longer have an suv or truck and can no longer put them in or anything but from what I’ve seen in the box they are great and durable. Very compatible and great for road tripping and luggage. Amazing quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Yakima timberline towers are a good choice for someone looking to enhance carrying capacity for their vehicle. The towers are sturdy and installation isn’t too hard but I did have to follow a YouTube video. Please note that you must purchase the right kind of towers for your vehicle and the bar adapters too. I hear that people have issues with the towers stripping over use but so far so good.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The quality of these mounts is excellent I would say even very good. Silent fastening does not let things slip in different directions. Stable in every sense of the word. I would add that it is compatible with our mounts.

Sturdy fit and easy to install. Some issues I had were the outer cover on one of my towers blew off after a wind gust. I was on a 1000+ mile road trip. The cover was missing after 200 miles. Also, they claim you can install locks in these towers, but it is not intuitively obvious how to do it.

The covers don’t fit well. Afraid they will blow off so I placed electrical tape for some extra hold.

The Yakima Sightline Tower and Roundbar adaptors were a great solution to my problem of having a new Hyundai Tucson and old 897 Thule Hullavators which required a round crossbar. SightClips are attached to the tower to hold the tower onto the car railing. You need to use a Sightclip set specific to your car (in my case SC25). The Good: The attachment of the SightClips to the two towers for the front crossbar was straightforward, as was the round bar attachment. The Less Good: The directions provided information about how far the towers should be seperated to attach to the railings on the driver and passenger sides. But I needed to do a bit manual adjustment for a good solid fit to the railing. The Bad: On one of the remaining towers, the outer Sightclip (R4) was unable to connect with it's hook on the Sightline tower. The problem was with the Sightline Tower, not with the clip. (The Yakima instructions are not clear about the importance of this step. If the Sightclip does not set into the hook on Sightower, the bottom of clip is too high to connect with the bottom of the railing and would make the tower insecure.) When I brought it into REI, a shop guy was unable to solve the problem as well. The Ugly: I had thought it would be reasonably straightforward to exchange a defective tower for another tower. Instead I had to exchange the entire 4 towers, which meant I had to disassemble the two towers mounted on the car. One fun fact I discovered is once the towers are mounted on the car, it is either wicked hard or impossible to remove the clips from the towers. Hence, two of the towers I returned may only work on a Hyundai Tucson and one other model. Lessons learned: 1) Make sure as soon as possible that the Sightclips fit into the Sighttower, even if you are not going to mount onto car immediately. 2) Don't expect REI to solve problems rationally. Perhaps it goes against the corporate culture. 3) Support a worker's union that enables problem solving for customers.

These fit my Forester's flush-mount rails correctly. Remember to get the fit-clips specific to your vehicle.
