These are my first pair of Darn Tough socks. I was excited for them, because DT seems to be a quality brand and the size chart seemed promising as to fit. I’m a size 7, so I’m often between sizes… and I hate when socks are too big. I chose size small with no reservations. They’re surprisingly small. They fit smaller than socks I’ve had since I was 12 years old. They’re not unbearable, but I don’t get that nice “anchored in the heel” feeling of well-fitting socks, they’re shorter in the ankle than they should be, and even with how low the heel is on my foot, they sometimes still sit uncomfortably tight against my big toes. Obviously higher content wool socks don’t stretch a ton, but if socks marked for sizes 4.5-7 are this small on my size 7 feet, I think the intended shoe size ranges for Darn Tough sock sizes should be smaller. My takeaways are that you never truly know how socks will fit until you try them on and that if a friend had a relatively new pair of size medium women’s Darn Tough socks, I would try them on for size, but otherwise I don’t plan to buy more. Other than not fitting right, they’re comfortable, I guess.
I never thought I'd pay over $15 for a single pair of socks. But these are so worth it, and I'm not even sure how I enjoyed hiking in the dark ages when I had to peel off sweaty, stenchy, "normal" socks. I've hiked a lot with the Darn Toughs this year, and even after some trails involving 12+ hours of hoofing it in summer heat and humid air, the socks are just slightly damp and still completely scent free. And while I value quality first, the critter designs are a huge bonus.
They are warm, comfy, fit to size. However, after 5 washes they have started to pill. Also, bought the same socks w/ the heron and no pilling. Huskies will do that;-)
I am heavily disappointed in the quality of these. I have had two other pairs of darn tough socks for the last 6 or 7 years and they still look almost new... But these, and a couple others that I purchased recently, have already started to pull threads and look horrendous. Returned.
Very comfy socks that are both very cute and add extra support. I can't even feel the seam in the toes which, as an autistic person, is a huge plus for me.
These socks are durable, comfortable, and fit perfectly no matter the moisture levels! Plus, the critters are SO cute.
Darn Tough Lightweight Micro Crew with cushion are my go to mild weather socks. They fit perfectly. (I hope they never "improve" the fit/design/material.) I would wear them if they only came in puce. However, they keep bringing out these really cute patterns which makes them so much more fun to wear while keeping my finicky feet comfortable. When my feet get cold, I switch to the Midweight Micro Crews which fit equally well.
Darn Tough makes my favorite socks. I recently wore these (and their other critter ones) on a two week camping trip and they are fantastic for camping/hiking that many days in a row. They’re thick enough to help prevent blisters, but not overly thick as to make wearing shoes difficult/too tight.I’ve had a few pairs for almost a year and they’ve held up great. The one thing I did notice was that if I washed them normally they collected every fuzz they could find and I’d have to pull them out of the fabric later. Washing inside out and this became a non issue.
I need darn tough to stop releasing new cute animal prints because its getting hard not to justify buying them. These are perfect work boot socks when you work outdoors on your feet all day. Wear slowly, super comfy, both cool and warm, slim fit, and they make me happy when I see them. The perfect marie kondo.
These are super comfortable. As an environmentalist and a rock climber, I LOVE the design.
