Something is just off

Again, I really want to like the new Glycerin. I bought them online because I couldn't find them anywhere locally. I love the style and the colors. I can tell right away when I put a shoe on if it's going to work for me. Run right out of the box is my motto. I spent too much time trying to convince myself that they would be fine. Trying them with different socks, walking around the house...something was just off. After a while I noticed my feet were leaning towards the inside (closer towards the ankle). I have a neutral foot and run pretty even. There is no way I could run smoothly with that affect. Unfortunately, I will be returning them.

Exactly What They Should Be

After going back and forth between 4 stars and 5, I decided I have to go with 5--for what they are, namely the most stable running shoe I've ever tried on, they are perfect. In the past I've worn softer, more comfortable feeling running shoes, but everything that made them feel better to wear also made them less stable and therefore ultimately wrong for my feet. I'm running 6-7 miles at a time at this point, and can't mess around with foot stability. I picked these for their stability and that is what I got. Meanwhile, folks at Brooks, if you ever find a way to make brilliantly stable shoes a little more comfortable, that'd be great! :)

Brooks Glycerine 18 too narrow.

I love the Glycerine 17. They held up better than my old Ghost plus seemed to have a roomier toe box which I need. I bought two pairs of those and now need a new pair. So I recently bought the Glycerine 18 thinking they'd feel amazing as well. I've tried running in them 3 times. They hurt. I miss the plush comfortable Glycerine 17. Same name but different shoe in terms of size. They are too tight, too narrow. I can't even use the last hole to lace up. Why change it so? I am so disappointed. Drastic. I wouldn't have bought them if I'd know. I have high arches and wear a neutral shoe and need room because of it. This is a narrow shoe.

Glycerin 18 is for Me!

This pair is the second pair of Brooks I own and absolutely love. My friend has told me about Brooks when we were comparing notes of jogging experiences. She suggested I try Brooks and start with the Ghost 12. I took the test on the Brooks site and Ghost 12 along with the Glycerin 18 came up as recommendations. I did like the Ghost 12 and noticed a difference in my runs with how I felt during and after. But I have to admit for a 41 yr old with RA I have to say the Glycerin are my favorites!!! The cushion and comfort is definitely ideal for me. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone who needs more cushion when they hit pavement.

Great for damaged foot

3rd Pair of Glycerin and still enjoying them. 48yo, asthmatic, permanently damaged foot and shoulder plus new-ish to running (only logging about 5k-15k a week depending on asthma) but these make it easier with the cushion I need to not favor my bad foot. Easier on old knees as well. Some reviews have favored prior iterations, but by the time I replace my shoes (probably way past the time I should, but I'm a novice at this whole athletic thing) the spring of the new footbeds is such a significant improvement I love them. Kids are right--new shoes make you faster and jump higher. (Not loving any of the colors, so just went with a tolerable looking pair.)

Great cushioning for walking on cement, but not for running.

I think these shoes are great for comfort and support while walking on hard dirt or cement, but the extra weight that the cushion carries ended up hurting my knees while running. I'm sure it depends on how your body is built, but if you're tall and lean, I'd say try the Revel model- I ended up getting these, and also the Ghost model because it offers more cushion than Revel, but it's not as MUCH cushion (to weigh you down/cause more impact problems on your knees) as the Glycerine has. I also love Levitate for walking, and I ended up choosing those for my walking shoes over Glycerine. As with ALL Brooks shoes, order a half size up from your regular size.

Love my Glycerin 18’s

These are my second pair. The cushioning is great, but not squishy, and the support, while minimal, is there. I was an adidas ultra-boost fan for many years, but after rolling my forefoot twice (resulting in injury) I had to make a change. I am 64 and have been running for over 50 years. I have 62 marathons and hundreds of races under my belt. Shoes are the most important item to successful running, whether you race or not. I highly recommend these shoes if you have a neutral foot, and the Brooks trial period is the best in the business.

change in arch support

I had several pairs of Ghost running shoes which I absolutely loved. I have plantar fasciitis and I felt like the shoe completely enveloped my foot and supported my arch. I ordered the Ghost 11 about a year and a half ago and was not satisfied. My feet, shins and back hurt every time I ran. Brooks suggested I try the Glycerin 17, which I did, and to me they gave the same support as the "old" Ghost. Yay! I just ordered the Glycerin 18 and again feel like there is something lacking in the arch support. I used to feel like when I put my shoe on. my arch was completely surrounded and supported. Please stop changing the arch support!

Not for me

I've been purchasing Brooks Adrenaline for at least 6 years now. I wore them out and needed new ones. I have plantar fasciitis so the right shoe that fits my orthotics is important. The Glycerin was recommended. I took a chance and ordered them. I wasn't satisfied at all. The fit was small on my right foot and pinched my baby toe. They were stiff and had poor cushion in comparison to the Adrenaline. I did like how snug the heel fit and the shorter tongue. I highly recommend ordering a wider width. I wear a 9 normal width usually. I walk 12 miles a day, 365 days a year. I need support and cushion. I'll stick to the Adrenaline.

Please give us narrow width people color choices!!!!!!

Great fitting shoe!! Been a fan for 20 years!! My feet love these shoes!! My only reason for 3 stars is for the lack of color choice. I wear a narrow. So year after year when I am ready to purchase a new shoe, I have only one choice of color. Year after year when Brooks asks me to review the shoe, I state I am happy how it feels but could us narrow people get a choice of 2 colors in this model and other model shoe??? After 20 years, I am getting tired of being stuck with the color of choice by Brooks. I don't like this color of Glycerine but I had no other choice. Please please Brooks, give us more color options!! 20 years is a long time to wait!!!
